It seems you really found your 'niche' with this stuff if you get me. So cool to see the process and also the growth of your channel. Been a big fan since you've replaced Luke in TWA (didn't even know you did Life Cycles up 'till that point). What impressed me is you were right on the money in (I believe) your first show in Trix Antwerp. You deserve all the success coming your way man!

Hey Matt quick question, the new stand you bought, does the AT2020 go straight into that with no problems? And could you name the Snare and kick out Stand please? Thanks

Good job man !!! But I would have loved to hear the drums through the mics at the end. Also it will be nice if you talk about them and what characteristics do you search. Thanks !!!

I love the music nomad but can it be safely used on paiste rude cymbals? Paiste cymbal cleaner they don't sell anymore

Maybe I missed it. How did you get into being a drum tech?
As a drummer myself, here's a pro tip from one brother to another. To avoid mess and save clean up time, don't dip and roll your tension rod ends in the white lithium grease. instead, take a cotton swab (Q-Tip) and smear a little dab of the grease into the hole of the 'receiver' of the lug....and just barely enough to cover the hole. When you insert the rod into the receiver and start to tighten it down, the rod will push the grease deeper inside and coat the threads as you go. If you do it right....no excess to wipe away and no grease on your hoops!
the fact that you do this for a living almost every night and STILL have the will to do it at home is amazing. I hope to love something that much in life.
This is satisfying my inner drum nerd! Super chill, I want more!

Algorithmically blessed to have this show up in the feed, deeply resonate with every piece of hardware being 10+ years old. Happily subbed!
That Gibraltar clutch is an absolute LIFESAVER.

Can you tell me if they work on an acoustic style E kit? I’m not a drummer, my little one is so excuse my ignorance 🫣😂 His clutch keeps coming loose and it’s annoying.

I'm a huge fan of the tama quick release. It isn't finicky at ALL. Same with their wingnuts for cymbals. Perfection imo
Man we need you filming every time you are near a drum set. This is gold Hugs from Argentina
I just recently started miking my drums at home to hear what they sound like (as you suggested). It’s been a process for sure, but seeing your video and the fact that I am using the same exact interface feels validating! I’ve also begun to appreciate the peacefulness of setting up, tearing down, cleaning drums, changing heads etc. where in my younger days I would have seen that stuff as just an annoyance.
The best thing about those hi hat clutches is that the bottom/inside doesn't ever unscrew while you are playing
This video gave me flashbacks to me setting my old drums and the day I finally tearing them down for my E-Kit. They are still there in the back, the cheapest drums I could get back there when I was 12 (27 now)but damn, for almost 8/9 years they were my friends, my buddies, my cymbals are also back there, all the memories. Great video again Matt, cant wait to see your next video!
Dude, i like your content a lot. You put out videos that are really interesting to drummers, techs and musicians in general to see. Amazing job!
I love the respect, care & pride you have in the gear you are working with mate..
Very cool!!!! I love watching your videos while I work. Because I work on the computer, at home, and I'm a drummer on the weekends. And your videos make me a lot of fun, the work becomes less hard. Keep making and posting videos, I'll always be watching them. Big hugs, Matt, from your fan in Brazil 🤘
Thanks for making this video, Matt! I’m definitely gonna reference back to this if/when I get a more serious drum mic setup 🙂
Another great video. Thanks Man. Hope the tour is going well!!
love this type of content, looking forward to more!
Thanks Matt, always love to learn more . The captioning on point for a good giggle too!

If I wasn't in college suffering for a good job, I would've been down to have this job. Looks very interesting, glad I got to watch a little!
That's super great to watch. Hope neighbours have fun as well 😆
ive learned so much watching your videos.Thank you.
Loving the videos man. Bit of a tech myself. The strap that came with your SM57 is for wrapping the XLR onto a stand etc 👍 Enjoy September tour!
Hey Matt. If you dig Stevie Wonder’s full time drummer, Stanley Randolph, he advises to never change the heads on a kit unless it has a hole in it. I have heard him say that before in his videos in the past. I think any advice from a cat like that has got to be worth following. Man, you do whatever is your thing and won’t complain about it. It’s my first time checking out your channel here. All the best to you. I quite like how unique your kit looks and sounds. 🤘🏽
Enjoy your next couple weeks of vacation! I'm sure next month around the 11th you'll be spinning back up for action as the rest of us. Was going to ask about the LIBAD tour but you answered it and I kinda figured since Luke loves you so much. See ya on the road brotha!
I'm just munching away on my lunch while watching you go about your day. Never knew I would like this type of content so much 👌Dope content, can't wait to see the vid on how you became a drum tech
Awesome stuff as always.
I absolutely love your videos man. To see things from your point of view, and with just enough chat, I just have to watch them all the way through. Thank you so much for doing these. I have one question for you, do the drummers you work for ever ask your advice regards how they set their drums up? I’m thinking angles, height, that sort of thing 👍
Even though im a woodwind player mostly focused on jazz and dont understand anything im seeing here, its still really fun to watch. Earned a new subscriber right here :D
Awesome love your drumming and musical taste
u sir have earned a new sub, keep em commin!!
Love these videos!
love seeing the "other side" of the drum tech world. Something I'm trying my damned hardest to make into a full-time career so all this is porn to me haha. Look forward to what's next!
This is so chill. Suena increíble esa bataca! Salud!
Ridiculously relaxing to watch haha
What's wild is I was just in that exact GC on Monday to buy VIntage Emperor heads...The content has been great dude!
Bro, you make this look so easy!! I want to learn how to do all this!!
Love your videos! A tuning video would be amazing
I can watch it all day long.
Nice job with your videos really get a look into the life of a touring tech. Its funny cause I used to use the mallets to tune with too. You could hear more subtilties of the drum. Really was never a player but could hold a groove. So for you aspiring techs out there you don't have to be a great drummer to tech. There are other skills way more important to the job that you need to have. Great job Matt keep up the great work!
Loving these vids 🤘
Cool brother thanks for taking the time
When I lived on Southern & Gilbert that was my place. Now I live in Chicago and Sweetwater delivers everything in 1 day. Cool vid dude! 💯
LOVE this Turnstile album!!

Dig your stuff, i just told my girl i've reached "watching a drum tech off the road at home setting up his kit" level of drum nerd....
Love this content and was nice meeting both you and luke in AK!
That’s so meditating 🧘
So satisfying to see this aahahaha i se all of your videos in my work now, its like a rutine :P
This is so relaxing bro😂

Thats the goal man! Just some chill drum footage.
Wow this is badass! Also this is some great education for drummers and drum techs alike. Hope you didn't disturb your neighbors with all that drumming noise! 😂😂😂
Hi brother! I'm a drummer too, and i just love the kind of video, keep going! Hugs from Brazil!
Great content, man! Love the channel. One small tip, when mounting mics don't spin the mic, just hold the mic in place, loosen the boom arm and spin the boom into the clip. Way faster and less of a chance of dropping the mic. Don't ask me how I know...
I have a 27 year Mapex Venus kit and watching this I think I have thoroughly neglected to take better care of it, mostly for financial reasons... but it's good to know what I should start doing from now on. awesome stuff.
Haha, right with you there on the cable hate. The strap that comes with the SM57 is for keeping whatever cable you use on it tidy. You sandwich the cable between the short bit at the end that sticks out under the long bit, and the long bit itself, and that is supposed to stay put on the cable as you unwind it or use it or whatever, then when you wind it back up, you wrap the remaining long bit around the wound cable and back onto itself to hold it all in place. I couldn't figure out how to use it for the life of me so I ended up googling it one day, lol
Aluminum and Walnut, my two favorite snare sounds 👌🏻
That turnstile album was so good when it came out. Still a banger even though they are changing their sound a bit.
"If you need a drill to change three heads... Idk what to tell ya" AMEN
Nice work bro. ✌🏾
Just wanted to say that Gibraltar clutch is THE most clutch clutch of all time it’s great

Also no sound bite with the mic’d kit?
you'll like that hat clutch I got one back when they came out and bought three more for all 3 of my hat stands
Man, i love your videos. They super chill to watch. Careful with the instagram link in description. it is cut.
You probably already know this but something I do that helps me out is I tighten all the new heads at the highest sort of register I would be comfy with to play, stretch them, tighten a little more, then play for a little bit, then drop them down, it has worked out nice for me but ymmv!
A better reason to center the seam instead of lining it up on a tension rod is to avoid causing the seam to fail by loading all the pressure from the tension rod directly on it. Centering it puts the equidistant from the seam, drastically reducing the pressure.
Rad kit. Big fan of the radio king lugs.
Nice video for the cymbals, stands, tension rods believe or not I use WD-40 to clean them. Usually I clean them and let them stand overnight it’s nice and easy. Keep those videos coming.
I really like your drums and cymbals. I've been using music nomad since like 2018
I love my quick release gibraltar high hat clutch!
This hi hat clutch is the must better than any clutch
Loving the videos, so far, brother. I’d love to hire you one day. Gotta make it, first, but one day 😅
Cool video! I just wanted to mention a cool product that I use for tension rod lube. It's called Syl Glyde. Works like white lithium grease but clear like Vaseline. Try it sometime. 🥁❤️
Idk why I’m watching this I do enough of this shit on my own but here I am enjoying it even 😂😂😂
Bruh the snare jsnace had was the sickest drum iv seen in my entire life. Wtf. How much? Ill give my eternal soul for that. #harrypotter
I been all over turnstile 2 they r fucking amazing can’t wait to see them
yes the drum dial bearing edge condiioner is nice. I do think it helps with tuning. makes a mess during cleanup though.
awesome jobdude , GBU
I like your videos, man. Can you try to do some videos with the spy glasses? I didn't saw anyone doing that. I think it would be everything exactly what you see we see 🍻
I used to use TriFlow as it had a teflon coating and less messy for tension rods.
Dude awesome vid as always ! Might catch ya in west palm beach in September ! Gonna go see the avenged sevenfold show
Matt, 2nd video of your I’ve watched. Very interesting. I got a glimpse of your camera setup. So your using your phone to record it is what looks like and what is the strap thingy thing you used to put it around your neck? The next video you should do is to continue this one with what software you use and how you get the input of all your mikes to go into the computer and what you do with it to record your playing. Keep the videos coming! 😊

I actually have a chest mounted GoPro Hero 11 Black that im using for these videos. I'm planning on doing a Q and A video once I hit 10k subscribers where I'll show my set up!
The strap is a cable tie. Love the vids homie
Would love to see a video on how you got into teching/ what aspiring techs can do to start learning and get work! I've friends who've suggested a put my resume on Bobnet to find work. I've previously worked as an LD but I wanna be a drum tech. I just don't have any hands-on experience working with artists. Do you have any suggestions on how to find opportunities that I can add to my resume?
Yes yhe quick release clutch is the best!
New Member of your Great KZread Page ❤
I got that far then got into the DAW that I downloaded. That as far as I got. I'd love to see how you use the software, run the back track and record (audio and visual) the cover.
New subscriber im here. I love your simbols sound and snare sound.... Hell yeh. From India(Mizoram)
Love the content! Have you ever used the larger high tension drum keys, aka T-keys?
love your videos, super informative and I learn a lot! How are you able to drum in your house without complaints from neighbors? or do you just have friendly folks next door lol. I have my kit set up with mutes but it's just not as fun. Thanks for the videos again!
I'd love to visit Guitar Centre if I was to come to the US
i liked when you gave cpr to the snare drum.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who checks the drumheads inside the box to make sure it’s the correct one 😂
That Shure velcro nylon strap is to strap XLR mic cable to the mic stand.
