    Hello Mix Together-ers, hope you are enjoying this series. Joe and Home Studio Corner are the best. In case you're wondering, the drum beats were played by a real drummer using drum midi from OddGrooves (the Magnus Brandell Signature 4/4). The virtual drum kit was EZdrummer 2, using the Vintage Rock expansion kit for a super dry '70s/Steely Dan feel. Cheers.

    Hey there! Sorry to bother, the song is very cool! Is the mix that's on your KZread page Joe's mix/the mix together mix? Or has it been mixed by someone else and then re-mixed by Joe for the Mix Together season? Thanks a lot! Keep up with the music, the solo is very very cool! -Jonah.

    @@OmeteotlBand Hi, thanks for the encouragement. The mix of this song on my KZread was my own mix/master. I haven't heard Joe's mix yet ... but I'm really looking forward to that in the last episode. The guitar solo was Simon Carlstedt, and I agree it's very tasty.

    I would also suggest a little saturation before your compression to help the drums cut a little better. Especially the snare but very nice subtle but purposeful choices here.

    Loving the series! My question is at the end will you also do an “in-context” video? I know it might not be the most engaging content but I’d really love to see how you’d tackle a full mix all at once without having to explain every step. Might be interesting to compare how the mix sounds between the end of the series and an actual mix session.

    So you used the compressor direct on the drum bus. That's what I understand but what would you do when you have an 808 would you put the 808 on the drum bus? And how to sidechain kick to bass in fl studio and having them on the same drum bus?

  • @MegaGuitaruser

    @MegaGuitaruser

    Hey Luke, i have the same version and it works for me. Have you tried clicking the volume meter itself? Also the k system option (k20, k14, k12) are only available on the "main out" bus, the others only have "peak" and "peak/rms" options as far as i know. Also try putting a level meter plugin on your master bus, (just like joe does) and you can choose k system options there as well. I use the level meter on k-20 for mixing, and leave the level meter next to the fader on peak/rms, so i can have two different meters at the same time. Hope this helped!
