DRUGSTORE CURLY HAIR PRODUCT BATTLE & REVIEW | Cantu vs SheaMoisture

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I am finally comparing two popular lines of affordable drugstore curly hair products that are humidity-resistant for frizz-free results, CANTU VS SHEA MOISTURE. This video is a first impression UNBIASED product review of several products from both lines styled on my curls at the same time to determine the longevity, pros, and cons of each brand in a true side-by-side compHAIRison. I reviewed many products (hence the length of this video) and keep you updated on how it lasts throughout the week and ultimately, which products I recommend.. and which ones I don't. So stay tuned to the end! Thanks for watching!

@Mona Carriedo - Hi Mona! I'm 65 in Sept and I'm trying to get a handle on this curly girl thing. I'm probably more of a wavy but the underneath side of my hair might have some 3A going on. My hair was very curly as a child and thru high school. I got perms in college and 20's to help me control my hair better. I think my hair changed a lot from pregnancies and anesthesia. Then keeping it shorter and straightening it all thru my 40's & 50's for work Now I just want my old hair back! lol I've been growing it out for almost 2 years so the length is down a good ways past my shoulders and it is quite thick and coarse. I have a lot of wave. My husband loves it compared to my short styles of so many years. I'm just starting my journey and trying not to spend an arm and a leg on too many products. But I really don't know what I'm doing at this point! lol

@Mona Carriedo I'm in my 60s starting curly girl method. My hair is on wavy side and what really helps for me is using clarifying shampoo couple times a month and to use a deep conditioner just as often. Another thing that helps is that I have stopped coloring my hair. I don't miss those regular root touch ups.

@@rachelc.5463 I'm 65 and have been coloring my hair for 20+,years. I've been debating on whether to stop the coloring but I'm concerned it'll look horrible. My hair is wavy/curly and very fine. Finding products that won't weigh it down is a challenge, from leave-in to stylers.

I work at a store that sells Cantu and I don't think I've ever seen it that runny. Either that was a bad batch or it was left in a high heat area for too long where some ingredients just melted. But I will say it shouldn't be that liquidy.

I'm about 2-3 months in and still trying to figure out what my hair likes/dislikes, but the ingredients take so much time to remember or decipher when standing in the aisle for 20 minutes or trying to compare with 10 tabs open on the computer. So I really appreciate hearing that someone is either protein heavy or if a product tries to pull a fast one (like the mineral oil to patroleum in this video).

I use the Stay Glue Gel in the summer because it's great for the hot humid air we get here down in Houston, Texas. One of my hidden gems from Cantu is the Curling Cream from the Cantu Care for Kids line. It rivals my curling smoothie from Shea Moisture, it's just that good! Gives me enough definition while keeping my hair soft to the touch and it keeps that hold for many days. The best thing is: it's only about $3-4! Definitely give it a try if you can find it👍

I always thought Shea Butter was maybe better, but this was an eye opener! Also, I wish my curls lasted 4 days, but no such luck down here in Houston, TX... Have you done a review on Kinky Curly? I know it is "in between" high end products and drugstore products in terms of price point, but I find that I am LOVING the custard. Casts and holds really well, without leaving m hair feeling dry. I am SO glad you did this video. I have fallen in love with Cantu. Everyone talks about Sheamoisture and their mosques are amazing but I haven't found other products from them that work for me. Then I tried Cantu and now my bathroom looks like a Cantu sponsor video. If you try more stuff from them I recommend trying their gel with honey. It's so nice. It's not the usual texture. It's a bit between a gelee and custard but is still stronger hold gel. Also I have tried a lot of the kids line and they work fantastic in my hair. :) Also, I have a gel recommendation: Got2B Ultra Strength(the one in the black tube). It's SO good. I can't even scrunch out the crunch. In Houston humidity it's a life saver!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this review! It just so happens that I bought the EXACT SAME PRODUCTS the weekend before your video aired and just watched a week later. Too bad I waited and struggled the whole week trying to make them work on my 3C/4C hair. Your video would have saved me a whole lot of time! The souffle is just plain weird and after several days of looking like I had Jello-O in my hair for about an hour every day, I caved and ended up using the Cantu Moisture Retention Styling Gel as my final styling product. The results were curls that last but they are on the crunchy side. I wanted soft touchable curls, but I'll settle for a little crunch over goop. I have't given up on the souffle and think maybe as it gets warmer it will soften more into a custard. In any event thanks so much for reviewing affordable, accessible products honestly and in such a fun way. You are truly an inspiration! Keep it up Mel!
