Drug Lords - Wayne Patterson | Full Documentary | True Crime

Ойын-сауық

Police install secret hidden-cameras and listening devices in a Sydney hotel to take down a major cross-border drug syndication run by the Mr Big of Queensland. The head of the syndicate is 49 year old career criminal Wayne Patterson.
Drug Lords is a series that blows the lid off Australia's biggest-ever Class A Drug Busts. With exclusive, no-holds-barred and unprecedented access to the NSW Police Drug Squad's criminal archive, Drug Lords provides a pacy inside view of key kingpin takedowns over the past five years. With actual surveillance footage, covert listening devices, secret phone taps and more.

What a waste of police resources. The drugs are getting in anyway. Better if they produced their own clean drugs, with dosage amounts clearly written and a number for an addiction clinic and just sell it for cheap to adults so they don't need to break into my car or rob me at gunpoint for it.

What did these arrests really solve? I don't see evidence that the underlying issues of why people turn to these things as a means of escape being addressed. If the courier by airplane was really earning $500 and doing this *just* to have food wouldn't it make more sense to address the barriers to employment and work backwards. I don't see how giving these individuals a criminal record and the obstacle this creates in getting a employment after release has been beneficial. And even worse than this: You've just sent them to a criminal college where their skills could be refined to continue upon release. Unfortunately it seems to me that this justice was punitive and not restorative. Simply because these drugs didn't "hit the streets" wasn't stopping the end users from getting drugs. Yes the police can have their press release saying they caught this group. But I think there are much bigger and hard hitting questions to address the "why" the need for this actually exists. By the time you reach this level of sophistication you have a much bigger problem on your hands that a few arrests doesn't fix.

Sorry I've never watched fox news, I'm Australian and i listen to a wide variety of views including public radio that is very bias left wing.. The issue of drugs in society is a seperate one, and very complex, its not just about what an individual does, it's how it effects wider society, just look at the huge problems we have with alcohol, decriminalise or different approaches may be worth looking at for some drugs. But as long as it's illegal at least have sentences that are a deterrent, at the moment guys like this in the video are completely willing to roll the dice and make huge money because it's totally worth the risk, most of these guys most likely still have hundreds or millions stashed, get out in ten years and they still can retire, to them it will still be worth it. The biggest problem most have is greed, its just never enough. BTW. the biggest hoax is the saying "war on drugs" and saying it doesn't work, it's no different than saying law enforcement on rape or murder doesn't work because people still rape or murder, it's not something you ever totally stop, but it doesn't mean you just go, yeah ok too hard...everyone can do as they like either.

This shouldn’t be called drug lords it should be called Australia’s dumbest crims haha it’s like a comedy film with absolute amateurs running a semi decent drug ring

Drug LORDS is a bit of a stretch. A dude fixes a few ecstasy pills to his legs with Glad Wrap, his payment AUD500. And why would you chance your arm going through an airport when you could drive from Sydney to the Gold Coast. Sure it takes longer, but it's much more sensible. Of course, it's even more sensible not to traffic drugs at all.

@@liambruh4678 sorry i am not sure Australia has become like this highly controlled facist regime..... So i guess Acid in Oz probably not... mushrooms and truffles... sure. Nobody does acid and schrooms anymore... there seems to be this hardcore craze for synthetic and horrible drugs like meth. Gone are the days of e and Acid... no harm done... a few isolated cases of yoingsters getting into trouble from dehydration but on the whole a pretty safe "drug". Grow your own Magic mushrooms.

Big deal, all that taxpayer money, all that effort, all that drama, and they all know that in moments an entirely new chain of suppliers will emerge with hardly a pause. As long as there is demand there will always be supply.
