There's no better sound Nigel. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers - Allan.
Cheers Ken, I remember seeing my very first ones at Carlisle in 1966 on the freight lines and most were based in Glasgow at that time. I have loved the diesels ever since.
Thank you Rory............ a nice din from my favorite classic diesel locomotives to start the day. Allan.
Good work Allan, very nice video! Best regards from Croatia :-) Car

Sad to see most of the DRS class 20s gone now with only 3 of the class kept in some sort of running order over the last couple of years for the RHTT season with this year maybe the last ?

It's very sad indeed to see these running in such few numbers now Justin. They are my favourite diesels and cant wait till October to see them on the RHTTs in Yorkshire. It will be a sad day when they are gone forever. Thanks for commenting. Regards - Allan.

They always been my favourite class and it’s sad how DRS have just left them to rot away in sidings over the years and not take any interest in them.
Hi Allan, must have missed this one! Great sound off the 20s as always. They first started appearing at Polmadie and Eastfield (both Glasgow sheds) around 1962 and by 1968 they were everywhere in Scotland. Thanks for sharing this one. Ken
Yes very happy days indeed and great memories.
Cheers Steve.....glad I hung around.
Some great sounds and clag from those 20s Allan!
Thanks for viewing. I waited in the hope they would move off but they were shut down again after 30 minutes.
Thanks for that formidable38

Thanks for watching Trevor. I think I was just changing trains here one morning when I seen a guy approach the locos. I thought I would hang around so glad I did. Cheers - Allan.
Music to my ears
Thank you :-)
The Class 20s are my second favorite loco of all time. (That's a lot coming from an American like myself). They sound great and look good in any paint. How about sending a few to us when y'all are done with 'em. ;)

Thanks for viewing the video and for commenting. I just love class 20s. They are over 55 years old now but there is not many left in the UK now but still a few operational on our main network and of course on private heritage railways. We'd love to send you some but we love 'em so much it probably won't be possible. :-) Best wishes - Allan. :-)

I must agree with you. The class 20's are known to be used on the UK'S RHTT (Rail Head Treatment Train) which basically clears all the leaves off the track during autumn. They also sound brilliant.

Where I live, we rarely get RHTT's.

That's quite interesting, as they were often 'criticized' as being very American in design, having a single cab at one end. ( They were nearly always run in pairs nose-to-nose in this country so they could have cabs at front and rear)
Cheers Matthew!
yes I agree.....it a great sound :-)
Its turbo whistle. Class 20's and class 40's are renowned for it!
Two songbirds in chorus. :)
Super sound :-)
Hellfire clip Allan!!
Wicked vid 20s rock
Yes Jeff....the clagging starts here.
Your welcome, Clive.
Cheers Callum.......seen three DRS people hanging around these so I thought I would do the same :-)
We're keeping the ones we have sorry chap. But you're more than welcome to take a few hundred of these GM things back. 😁
Wicked !!!
I take it this is the start of the clagging season. Jeff.
Anyone know...is that turbo whistle or cooling fan whistle please?
