*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*

Great video!!! I found a lot of the same issues with the weight difference as well. I also noticed over the years that there is a different time to use the cylindrical shaped weights will give you unbelievable action vs the less active cannonball shapes. Both are crucial in the structure you fish in but I found out that when it really counts,.... you can't beat the cylindrical shaped for more intricate finesse fishing. The retrieve is a extremely slow & I add the lightest shake possible. Like sprinkling salt on a steak. Then leave it setting & usually it gets picked up lightly and you sweep hook it. I do like a 7'6" rod because I'm 6'1" tall. Thank you for sharing this one 👊

I like when people like you just stick with the basic of life when talking to someone than just going out of space somewhere with what they are talking about to someone about this material world stuff that come and go So you talking the basic how to do it and I like that bro So tell the others to come back down to earth or stay in space with making life hard for others on earth!? Thank you for keeping it real and not making it so hard for others to learn!! Zarail aka Z

Great question. I have read 2, 1, 1/0, and 2/0 hook sizes. Let me preface that I am a complete beginner, but I bought Gamakatsu 1/0 EWG Finesse hooks today. Tired of trying to figure it out. Weird that it is not mentioned in videos.

If I'm using a little heavier weight, bigger texas rig, bigger hook, ill use a med-hvy/fast for sure. But 1/8oz, 3/16oz, smaller hook, ill use a med/xfast. Its personal preference really, just remember to adjust (hookset, playing the fish, drag) to the different variables as needed depending on rod, line, hook, weight, etc.

Man, and here I was confident to spool a whole reel of 6lb fluorocarbon and now your saying use braid. I thought that you want a little stretch when dropshotting with 1 or 1/0 hooks so they don't straighten out. I was just heading to the store to get a Loomis 4-8 lb 6' 10" dropshot rod set-up and now I'm questioning myself again! Gah.... Our local fishery has a bunch of smaller to mid sized spotted bass, thats why I thought I'd go so light.

Hey John, great vid! what oz weight would you recommend for fishing deep brush piles, like 25ft or more? Trying to catch some of these suspended fish in and around them. Also would you cast to or vertically drop to them? Thanks!!

@@JohnCrews so basically you want the leader to have the entire depth of the water plus another approximately 10 ‘ meaning that your knot is on the reel. Doesn’t that affect your casting distance? Others keep it just above the reel while others don’t even want the knot to go through the guides when casting and keep it very short like max 3’.
