I think that you should consider the hobbyists side of the story. x-jet has summed up our side quite well in his KZread videos.

I fly both quads and fixed wing aircraft, nobody mentions the fact that fixed wing aircraft are just as capable of causing serious issues if not more so! also most large aircraft will carry a much larger payload than a quadcopter! It's always drones are a threat and this is giving the hobby a bad name!

Its not even mentioned that most multicopters or RC planes are NOT drones but ROV (Remote operated vehicles). That misconsception was planted by (as usual) uninfomed journalists without any kind of tec background, that were hunting for a panic headline to get clicks. Jamming the up/downlink of an actual autonomous drone with a mission has next to ne affect at all on the drone and its mission and can disturb other services in the same spctrum. So, actually identifying them early is very important, because constant jamming in all direction would do more harm than good.

Seams as though these jammers have to be focused towards the intended target anyway, is that correct?

Pair it with 4-5 small missiles and you have a SAM site.

There is no way that thing can track a FPV racing quad which can exceed 100 mph+.

A certified drone pilot who got FAA approval to fly in the area is not going to tolerate some drone detecter screwing with his UAV.

John Pro a certified drone pilot will not be tolerated when flying in no-fly zones. So there is no problem.

Is it even legal to listen and decode communication that doesn't belong to you? I'm pretty sure you will get in trouble if you try to listen to your neighbor's wifi traffic. Unless the firmware in the DJI product is already encrypting the telemetry feed, it should be done immediately. For the rest of us we can just disable the telemetry. The video feed is a different story though. Must be really depressing to work for a company like Dedrone...

I don’t know if it’s legal or not but the bigger question is, how will the gubermint know? They won’t.

Drone tracking is a good idea but the reason are pretty ill when it comes to wrong usages of them there are plenty of other way's flying devices can be used for wrong reasons. RC vehicle is one of the oldest hobby there is.

Fear mongering is all, you’re leaving out the good and pasting it all as bad. Stealing docs over wifi?? Wtf man were out there getting scenery and abiding by the rules. I know of no consumer drone that can steal info over wifi. Paste it bad, lock up your comment section. We won’t go away. I am a certified drone pilot who just wants to make nice videos and photos of scenery, whales, icebergs etc.
