Drone Captures Amazing Video of Dolphins playing with Whales on Whale Watching Trip

A drone films a pair of migrating gray whales, who while engaging in courtship behavior, were joined by a playful pod of pacific white-sided dolphins. Enthusiastic passengers aboard a catamaran operated by Captain Dave’s Dolphin and Whale Safari watched the dolphins leap and "surf" in front of the two 30-ton animals. Meanwhile the whales, seemingly amused by the attention from the dolphins, twirled around and swam the "backstroke".
Captain Dave exclaimed, "This is the best video I have video seen of dolphins playing with whales!"
Thousands of gray whales are making their annual migration right now, one of the longest of any mammal. The whales travel from arctic waters near Alaska where they feed to the warm lagoons of Baja, Mexico, to mate and give birth. During their approximate 12,000-mile round trip journey, gray whales face threats including orcas and entanglement in fishing gear. Nearly 1,000 dolphins and whales die every day, worldwide, in fishing gear entanglement. Captain Dave Anderson organized Orange County's first whale disentanglement group and rescue team members have successfully disentangled several gray whales.
Dana Point is one of the best locations along the California coast to view the gray whale migration. The whales are often seen within a mile or two of the shoreline, and it is thought that they use Dana Point’s headlands as a navigational aid on their journey.
In early March Dana Point Harbor will celebrate the gray whale migration and other marine wildlife with the 47th annual Festival of Whales. Ocean-themed events and activities that have an emphasis on education and environmental responsibility attract over 100,000 visitors during the two weekends of the festival.

When I first saw these clips of dolphins play with bigger whales, I realized this is why they like to swim with the boats and ships. Been doing the same with the boat size whales before men were able to sail the high seas.

That’s such a warm encounter to see captured on film. Two incredibly intelligent, sentient species, each enjoying the other’s company. And neither expected anything from the other. Neither cared that they were different. We humans should learn something from this.

I’m a stranger and your first words to me were rude. How would you feel if somebody you didn’t know took a shot in the dark at your character? You wouldn’t feel too good, would you? A combative and presumptuous attitude will garner you nothing but negativity. Conversely, you’ll be rewarded with cordiality, allies, and support if you use tact and courtesy. Respect isn’t free. Give it if you wish to receive it.

People have been living in and observing nature for thousands of years. They weren't separated from it like we are today, rather, nature began literally at their doorstep. If you look back at Greek frescoes or further back to Paleolithic cave paintings, animals were represented in great detail. People may not have been watching with our modern technology, but rather from within it. Wherever great beliefs flourished in any given society, nature was there also.
