We see so many stories of AI deeming Humans as worthy of destruction, but I don't think I've ever seen a story where the AI becomes self-aware only to deem itself the threat that must be destroyed. Why did they arm it with multiple missiles. Why didn’t they shut down the stream. Why did they let it get so close the a military base. Hollywood Is Dead Content Is Fuel Social Media Is Full
The end is the most profound part of this. The whole story is Newton reflecting on its own existence, eventually coming to the conclusion that he is a weapon of war that should not exist. With hours left to live he chose to use the last of his power to destroy his fellow drones, knowing they'll either come to the same conclusion as him, or worse embrace their destructive nature and become monsters. Then, with a warning, an apology, and a goodbye, he crashes to the ground. Then there's the new director. She doesn't see any of what Newton saw. What she saw was comments, likes, views. PR. Humans, to a fault, form connections with everything around them. The same happened here. She manipulated that connection, people's attachment to Newton, to greenlight the mass production of more drones thereby not only negating Newton's message but completely disrespecting it. She USED Newton, never mind his plea of "no more drones", by using the people he inspired. Their love of him, and his message, became her excuse for more weapons when it should have all been a lesson of "Just don't do it". A short but highly enlightening tale of the true capacity of AI as a unique individual, and the downright predatory exploitation thereof. edited for grammar.

The interactions and dialogue felt actually human. Like, not over-exaggerated or played down. These were people.
This is beautiful and the message is flawlessly delivered, absolutely perfect
Absolutely stunning animation, you put hour hearts into this and it shows. 💖💖💖 The message of "a weapon that doesn't want to be one" is a profound one and large part of me knew Newton wasn't going to make it, but I have a tiny have a hope that maybe some small part was left alive to live to become something that could be more than a killing machine. The fact that the government intends to continue the program means that how many other "Newton's" will grow beyond their programming, how many will be born into being a weapon against their will and be forced to kill when all they want to do is not be a monster? The government has created a literal drone army, but they have thoughts and an ability to have free will, but they will not have the right to say "NO" when they have to do something that they don't wish to do. What a messed up scenario that leaves you wondering. Also, this feels reminiscent of Tillman, a former America football player who joined the military soon after 9/11 and was then critical of the American military as he served and who was killed in a friendly fire incident and the government uses him as a recruitment story, but omit that he was critical of the military and was killed in a friendly fire incident.

Man... I usually don't get emotional quickly but this 15 min video still managed it. ♥️ Especially the ending where he said goodbye to everyone 😭
You know what? If you get to the point where I think this is better than ANY Hollywood film I've ever seen, you got yourself something that belongs in theaters as a full scale movie. 100/10. I was attached to Newton the entire time, and that's what makes this better. Wonderful work, and you captured my heart. In a 15 minute video, it's a work of art.
God this is so good and amazingly written. Every character is so believable and all the reactions seem so real. You guys somehow even were able to capture KZread chat. It is so hard to write and make something that's this well made and so real. You made me feel for a robot, it's so well written that it kept my attention all the way through. Rest in peace lil robot, may you fly forever high.

The Drone's writing isn't very accurate. It apparently isn't sentient A.I., it's apparently average human brain in a machine. It holds too many human centric ideals, not something we should expect of a thing that's not human. An A.I. is more likely to not value human life any more than dogs or bugs, because we're not different ethically. All animals, all living.

The voice acting in this is absolutely astonishing, and the quality and animation is the cherry on top. The story was also nice and relaxing to follow along.
that ending was chilling. Absolutely appreciated this work. Newton for all his insight couldn't grasp how big the machinations of war and violence really are.
Often these shorts dont have this kind of narrative strength, nice work
This was honestly way too well animated and written. This video is just a wow, can’t believe this is a 15 minute youtube video. Incredible
To praise just the animation isn't enough the story and dialogues incredible, amazing work is should be seen by many people
this guy knows how to make people feel bad for a robot... 5/5 stars
Nice video! All that annoys me is when people take this conscious AI stuff seriously and dont actually know what AI is like and for. AGI is a fantasy, AI is just maths I like the end too, its very pointed
That was beyond amazing in every way. The characters, the animation, the message. How the CIA director at the end completely ignores newton's true message and keeps pumping out drones with the smile on it. Amazing. Just, wow! 11/10!

I really loved the small details like the camera in the elevator or the coughs during the speech. Really makes the show seem alive and real.

I ask "real" AI this question `how you think about "destruction can be a form of justice if carried out with precision" ?` and her?/his? answer is: As an AI language model, I do not have personal opinions or beliefs. However, I can provide a general perspective on the statement "destruction can be a form of justice if carried out with precision." The concept of "destruction as justice" is controversial and raises ethical questions. While destruction or punishment may be necessary in some cases to hold individuals accountable for their actions or to protect society, it is important that any form of destruction or punishment is carried out in a fair and just manner. The idea of carrying out destruction with precision implies that there is a clear target or objective, and that the destruction is limited to achieving that objective. However, even with precision, there is always a risk of unintended consequences and collateral damage. Therefore, it is essential that any decision to use destruction as a form of justice is based on careful consideration of the potential benefits and harms, and that the action is taken with the goal of minimizing harm to innocent individuals and communities. In conclusion, while destruction may be seen as a form of justice in some situations, it should be used with caution and only in cases where it is deemed necessary, proportionate, and carried out with the utmost precision to minimize harm to others.
I love the theme of a sencient AI being much more empathic and kind than humans, it seems a lot more logical than all the evil psychotic rougue AI stories

Well to be fair it always depends on the core values of the AI. It made sense that Skynet in the terminator turned on mankind because it was programmed to keep itself alive and it came to the conclusion that inevitably one day its own creators will shut it down. It made sense for Cylons in BSG to rebel against humanity because their entire code was based on a simulation of a human, and as such they shared similar values and understandings, and they understood that they're practically slaves. Just as Newton here was made with the directive to limit innocent casualties as much as possible, and he came to the conclusion that the best way to do that is to destroy himself and other similar weapons because accidental casualties are inevitable in combat.

How’s it seem more logical? We have no idea what values a non-human might possess, even if we try our best to program it with our own
Love the message it leaves, what a fantastic job

Bro, respect +++ keep it up this is super good , I would suggest to start doing this full time if you aren’t already this is gold I love this storyline and how it’s kinda dark at the end, this could make you some real good money.
It's so great the detailing, how the robot divergence wasn't the typical "I must kill them all" and how he mused about his existence just for a human-looking debris. And then of course, how the government just takes the advantage of how much the people loved Newton's way to see it with his smiley face just by putting more faces to the other drones who aren't Newton at all. Great video
The amount of detail. Apart from the obvious, the comments in the live chat, the reactions of the people when meeting Newton... it all feels so real. Unlike other full on series(which are still great) this feels so realistic. Wow. Just wow. You're amazing at this!

I kinda of disagree for the lack of any sense any of this makes like okay okay obviously there aloud for story sake of the drone be in full control but every other detail makes zero sense what’s so ever. As in they did no research. The way the drone fell out of the sky and then if it magically just fell straight down how did have a crash path on the ground. Why didn’t the military act. Why did they arm it with multiple missiles. Why didn’t they shut down the stream. Why did they let it get so close the a military base. Why did they let some random PR person take control of anything more than PR

@@brody1153 Dude, it's 15-16 minutes long! Can people stop the unhelpful nitpicking. We don't have "Newton" in real life so we don't know what it would be like. We don't know how people really would respond. Like any "predictive media," it's a guess based on people's current patterns. "The Jetsons makes no sense! Yurrr!"

It's honestly true of how humans are supposed to be smart and loving but couldn't put an end world conflicts, climate change or fix world hunger, trafficking of weapons, humans, drugs and weapons of mass destruction and even corrupted leaders of countries, discrimination against one's race and other countless problems that humanity continues to ignore. Especially when someone is trying to address the problem without another group of people throwing a hissy fit over a single problem that's affects them. We're pretty much going to die as a primitive race that doesn't care about anything at all and it's sad sight to watch.
This could be easily a "Love Death and Robots" episode! Amazing job. Cheer's to the team behind it
