Driving Top of the World Highway in Class A Motorhome Thru Chicken Alaska | RV Alaska Series #11

#topoftheworldhighway #chickenalaska
Class A Motorhome RV Living: Season 3 EP052 July 15, 2018 Get more of our stuff at themotorhomeexperiment.com/.
In this episode, we roll out of Dawson City, Yukon, over the Top of the World Highway and into Chicken, AK.
Dawson City was an absolute blast and we're really glad we made the stop!
The Top of the World Highway, didn't turn out as bad as everyone had said. I think the dryer conditions made it more palatable. If it was really wet and slick it would prove to be much more challenging!
Beautifuly scenery continues to show up around every corner!

It's not misinformation, you just timed your arrival perfectly. No wait. Be happy. I got stuck late afternoon for two hours in June 2019 after I hung out in DC all day. Arrived at the border a half hour after it was supposed to close. It was still open but the Welcome to Alaska sign was missing, much to my dismayed surprise.

I agree! Heck, At this point in life, I don't want to even go back to the "hard" life I had as a kid. Just think, one phone in the house, tied to a wall and on a party line so you couldn't use it any time you wanted. TV with only 3 channels. I had such a deprived childhood. 🤣😂🤣

The Liquor Store used to be the Radio Shack. No, a Real Radio Shack for the Air Strip. It's Changed A Lot. But still the Same. The dredge looks like the old WADE #2. But it was a ways upstream on the Forty Mile River.

Did the realignment of the Top of the World from Eagle cutoff to the boarder with QAP. Was a great job to be on. Took 2 years. Should have seen it before we cut down all the grades and no pavement. Had a pack of wolves stalking my grade hop up by the pull out by the border. We all carried guns working at night....the Canadian border guys did not like that.🤫

I really like you video's, they are the best on U-Tube. I like the fact that you show a lot of the roads and highways as well as important information about the stops along the way. I am bringing five other couples on our Alaskan Trip in the summer of 2022, all with RV's. Leaving from Edmonton, Alberta to the Alaskan Highway and then onto Fairbanks, Anchorage, Tok on the return. A total time of six to seven weeks. Any info greatly appreciated.

Pretty COOL watching him do this on TV...THIS SEASON, should be a make or Break Year for Tony Beets on Gold Rush moving the Second Dredge....(cant wait to see it too!) on the Discovery Channel....

We have 19.5" Hankook tires all around. We just replaced them in February in Arizona. If your tires are cracking on the sidewalls, you definitely want to replace them! If they aren't cracking and they still have tread on them...keep on rolling! Please check with a professional because I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous!
