Petter is the greatest ambassador for the sport and having him front such a video was a genius move. Sincere appreciation for all the owners who brought their toys out to drive in anger.

Yeah, watching Petter and Phil absolutely slay the stages 20 years ago was what got me into WRC.
Kudos! Solberg is a legend!
Love Petter, his passion for the sport is unmatched
Guys. Thank you for the content. Is the naff background music absolutely necessary?
Solberg (along with Hirvonen) are my all time fav drivers! Legends.
the sound of that 6R4 is glorious, its definitely my favourite group B car. one of my old neighbours was a co-driver in british rallies during the 60s, 70s and 80s. he told me that he once read notes in a 6R4 for a friend and he said it was the fastest, most amazing but also most scary vehicle he ever sat shotgun in
Wow now this is a banger. Wish more of the legends would try this if health allows them. Great stuff for real
The music covering the engine sound is quite a nonsense
Not only has Petter left us with many exciting rallies in the past he has given us Oliver, his son for the future 👏👏👏👍
Happy to see him well, living legend
Awesome! With Martin Schanke making rallycross a household sport in Norway in the 80’s and 90’s. Petter Solberg is without a doubt our biggest WRC rally legend! Great video! Very entertaining. Long live the beautiful sport of rally
I used to be a club official for a Triumph TR club and had the pleasure of talking to Tony Pond on the phone once (he used to rally TR7's). I loved the Group B era and whilst the Delta S4 was always my favourite, I always wanted to see the plucky 6R4 achieve something big. Sadly Group B was finished before the 6R4 could really prove itself. For me, Group B was the greatest era in any form of motorsport in living memory. Wild action with some of the greatest cars ever made.

At least 6r4 proved full potential in Rallycross with twin-turbo until 1992.

I quit watching after 5mins due to the music. Did it carry on for the whole video? You'd think Autocar would know better?

I made it just over 3 minutes. It’d be great if they upload a version with no obnoxious music drowning out the sounds of the cars. I mean, I assume most viewers are here to see/hear the cars, not generic rock guitars.

When I read the comments about the music,I didn’t bother watching the video. They obviously gave the video production to a non petrol head, they just don’t get it.
Great to see Petter driving Steve’s beautiful Alpine! There have been some great cars in WRC history!
Awesome premise for a video
Mr Solberg is a legend 😊 loved watching him in his blue Subaru 😊
Skoda is such a cool car! I'll never forget Monte Carlo 2002 when it drive through a barrier(?) and got stuck on a light pole, with a insane drop straight down! Driver and co-driver was lucky not to get seriously injured! 😮 Also awesome to see everyone with big smiles on their faces.
Great vid, I spoke to the Octavia WRC owner there the year before, great guy
Good video, but why the stupid background music when the cars are running?
Absolute perfect video, so much fun on both sides of the camera - tahnk you soooooooooooooooooooooo much
Group 4 lasted until the end of 1982! Sick and tired of listening to irritating presenters who think they know it all about Rallying but constantly get things wrong - and this bloke works for Autosport!!!
What a great video. Every rally fan should watch this

A potentially great video spoiled by pointless rock music. Infuriating!
Wow, I've built replicas of the first 3 of these cars on my channel. I also work with a Metro 6R4 (or two) at the British Motor Museum. Absolutely love this collection of cars.
MG Metro 6V4 is 🔛🔝
Octavia Rally! Solberg! My favourite driver in my favourite rally car! Thank you for this. I appreciate you trying to get him to say "gerboks" at the start too.
The Skoda had the legend looking like he did when he competed in the WRC, very focused. Great video and greetings from Chicago ✌️
Not having an Audi Quattro for this is almost criminal. No other rally har has had such impact on the sport. Still nice to see the old classics!
As a fan of Skoda - I drove Skoda cars all my life - Im building a replica of Skoda Octavia WRC to take part in a historic rallys. Nice to see the “old” girl with Peter behind it stering wheel. He is not my favorite driver but his pasion for the sport is big and he get all respect from me
I really needed this video. After Craig's unfortunate incident in Croatia this year that sadly took his life, I just couldn't get myself to watch WRC again. I became a fan just last year and had a liking towards rallying since I was a kid. This video reminded me that despite the danger, rallying is truly a wonderful category of racing. Seeing the cars glide across the surface with that ridiculously good car control from the drivers, it's just so captivating. I might just get back into the WRC next year if they make helmets in the cockpit mandatory.

Helmets in the cockpit? Is there not already a rule?
@MrKruger88

Helmets are definitely mandatory at all levels of rally racing, I'm not quite sure what they meant by that. Breen was sadly killed by a fence post which penetrated the drivers side window.

@MrKruger88 yeah, I wasn't sure if they meant closed face helmet. Which could've possibly made a difference. But idk the details.

His enthusiasm is amazing to see. Top video :-)
Excellent video.
Well The Greatest Ambassador for the Sport Behind Colin "Flat Out" McRae is Peter Solberg. Peter is an absolute legend that Colin should be proud of and Peter is thankfull to be teammates alongside Colin during his debut prior to moving to the Legendary Subaru. 👏👏👏
An Amazing driver trying out all these amazing Rally Icons. Simply put, perfect match(es).
I wonder what kind of sofa Solberg has at home
A great program with the progress well shown but the most successful car of all was missing, the LANCIA DELTA INTEGRALE!
What a treat!!
13:50 Jimmy Broadbent in about 40 years honestly.
Absolute best drivers.
Fantastic
Great video, awesome cars, and Petter seems like a dude 🙌🏻
With the Toyota gr...Mr.solberg felt the most genuine i think😊
was relly looking forward to that impreza but not surpised of the outcome
🤩❤
Super movie !!
David Llewellin gave the 6R4 it's best result, 1st on the International Circuits of Ireland 1986.

Guy's how can you say rally and iconic without saying Scort or Lancia Inter🙂
Cool 🎉
That Toyota looked to be very quick. A different beast for sure. It would have been good to have more cars from each decade to get more of an insight into how far the sport has progressed, but still a good event.
Legend….
Wait, no delta s4? Celica gt4? Quattro? 124s? Stratos? Rs200 (or any cossy at that.) Evo. R5 turbo..... nah a couple subarus. The mg was cool tho. Oh and the alpine too.
When will automotive channels learn that their viewers don't want the music to keep playing over (or under) the sound of the cars!? Aside from that, lovely video. Thanks all.

Very cool idea and video! One thing though, could the music be removed during the in car sections? The music drowns out the engine sound and what Petter is saying while driving...
50 yr WRC history ‐no Lancia? No comment.
Petter and Subaru
Well the B car were too dangerous but wow what a class
" Progressed " you mean progressed and then regressed :'D Good video either way.
Strange how the 6R4 is still the car when we talk about scary rally cars. It looks terrifying to drive fast.
So many iconic cars missing. e.g. Lancia Stratos, Fiat 131, Ford Escort, Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205T16.
❤❤❤❤
Can't believe they didn't let Petter drive the Yaris
8:00 You broke the car Petter!
Great video But I think you forgot about Lancia winning 6x etc championship in the Intergrale after group b was banned

No lancia representative but 10 wins from 50 years? #1 In manufacturers titles.
The Yaris looked as fast and frenetic as the Group B car. The kids are alright.
Is that Allister Mcrae at 15:25? looks like him
Just like the road cars, the Subaru was ridiculously reliable until it hit 14 years lol
Why this music? I want to hear the cars!
Should have put him in a Quattro sport evo instead of the metro....the only metro that wasnt a joke though
Skoda seem to fit him well, just need slight improvement into steering.
must be awesome to have your car driven by Petter, but I can’t help but feel like he babied the cars. They deserve to go flat out - like the rally1 did.
Great video, why didn’t he drive the Toyota?

Petter is a superb driver but since his son Oliver drove the Hyundai in 2022 he would appreciate that a modern hybrid needs a totally different technique that has to be learnt.
Harri toivonen drove metro.
They should have let Petter drive the Yaris

Sorry chaps this is ruined by placing music over the song those engines sing.
missed the 1.6 era
Only watched 3 minutes, the 3 different views ruined it
Who decided to dub the crap music over the driving segments? We want to hear the cars.
So they didn't let solberg have a go in the newest car? Well thats rubbish
Please drop the rubbish 'excitiment' music , especially when the cars are driving.
AWESOME!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Personally I belive that You Have Ruined the Best parts of this Video By Playing Stupid Music in the Background. Although You have Lowerd the Music Volume it has taken away the Clear Perfect Sounds of such Beautiful Machinery. Fans of such Cars and Videos want to see and Hear these Beauties in FULL Detail. Playing Music over the Main parts of the Video is Bad Planning. This is just My Opinion. Fantastic Cars with a Legendary Driver. MUCH Respect ALL From Birmingham UK. Dean.
Imagine trying to own a stupid hybrid rally car in 20 years. The battery will be dead and you won't get a replacement.
Why destroy this nice video with awful music instead of pure sound from the engines?😖
Ruined, completely ruined by the music.
