As much as I love the laps in supercars and hypercars, these laps in more normal cars are somehow more impressive as we get more sense of the pace in an accessible way. Very nice.

Very cool to see my rental lap as the thumbnail. Thanks again Misha for the instruction. Can’t wait to come back next year and try out the changes to the car.

Got to do my first and only laps on the ring in the Cupra with you guys when we stopped by with Adventure Drives last summer and it was a blast! Glad to see it getting some attention!

You get the GTI in the states though don't you? Buy one with the performance pack and then put an IS38 turbo on, pretty much the same thing then

Not sure about the Focus RS. I've been around the car community and I knew 2 guys who had those and their engine blew so idk... Fords aren't the best. And Golf GTI is slow as hell even with an upgraded turbo

@@Lofi.z34 A Mk7 GTI is the same underneath as the Cupra/S3/Octavia so if you swap the IS20 for an IS38 (plus injectors/fuel pump if they are different) then it is the same, arguably quicker with the manual since they have a longer final drive

What a relaxing video to watch! I absolutely loved it. And... it'd be nice if you could bring more videos like this one to the channel. Currently, even though the channel is yours what we see the most here is other people driving their cars (and I'm not saying I don't like it) so it'd be quite enjoyable to also watch videos of you driving both the Apex cars and the ring traktor more often. Same colour as mine. Would love to bring it over from Scotland and experience the ring. Do you guys take people on laps or do training?

I love the Cupra. Im getting a new car next year, my 2 choices are the Leon Cupra or the Mercedes a45s amg. I know, both very different. If i get the Cupra it will have proper suspension setup and Wheels etc.. if i go for the a45s i will only remap it and put lowering springs on it. I just don't know what to do 😅

Was the gearbox rly in sport mode? It felt like it was trying to be too eco-friendly just before exiting the turn. Modern DSG logic i guess. 😅 Besides this engine would probably pull it off without downshifting. Plenty of torque midrange 🙈

Hahaha I thought the same. It must be pretty fun to drive a DSG in manual mode. But I also understand that once you get used to it you'd not necessarily want to drive it in manual all the time... There'd be times when you'd just want the convenience of driving in auto while you enjoy a beautiful sunny day of Touristenfahrten.

I'm sure the 300 uses the 7 speed DSG and I have to agree it seems very indecisive in this video. I have a 2016 290 with the 6 speed, I tend to use the paddles all the time but even leaving it alone with the box in sport, it holds the gears very well and I have never noticed it behaving like this.

Re-press the cupra button when you start it. Even though you leave it in cupra mode and turn off the car it isn't actually in it. Just cycle between the modes when you start the car again.

The gearbox does some strange shifts in sport mode

Is the DSC setup the same as in the "normal" Leon models? Seems a bit slow for the Cupra/track. Does it have pedals? .. meybe would be better. Nevertheless.. great video as usual 👌👌

Even in sport mode, the DSG (and most auto gearboxes) is awefull if driven hard. All those downshifts because the revs are too low mid corner. Only a few manufacturers, like Porsche seem to offer something descent in auto mode.... Tumb down for the gearbox, otherwise, I enjoyed as usual ;-)

It wasn't in sport mode. Stock DSG in S would never upshift like in this driving when going lightly off throttle

I can confirm as an owner of a 2016 290 that with the DSG in sport it does not behave like this. It's a very impressive transmission to be honest and can be improved with a TCU tune

Are theses Cupras worth the money more so then a golf R?

I'd say so. I have a Cupra 290 (17 Plate) which was almost £10K less than a Golf R on the used market at the time. I've driven both and the Golf R is quicker off the mark but the Cupra isn't far off and feels more involving round the corners. Also the Cupras are a lot cheaper to insure in my experience, probably because the Golf R is one of the most stolen cars in the UK and probably one of the most crashed as well.

Why is the car always downshifting when accelerating? isn't supposed to be on sport mode?

I like the Cupra Leon very more, because u get it as 3 Door... Golf R only as 5 Door. I don't like 5 Door Hatchbacks ❗ 3 Door Hatchbacks, have a character of coupes 👌🏼 The Door is longer. When i sit in a 5 Door, i look to the B pillar when i looking left and right 👎🏼

on a side note: cyclists are cycling a bicycle, bikers are driving a motorbike. pls don't call cyclists bikers... ;)

It could be so good if The camera was on The front vindow. It is not mutch we can see The track this way. Some say they want The camera this way, so it’s like The games. But this is not a game, But The real world. Will you Think abaut it. I love The track, not The inside of a car.

It’s a difficult compromise isn’t it. Because unlike you I really enjoy seeing a driver drive the car. Steering input for example. Depending on what you’re wanting to show sometimes full track view(amg record lap) and sometimes the inside(Green GT3RS full send with Kuba or the M4 with Kubica).

I wonder how well a specially designed helmet would work. I’m thinking something along the line of having a small camera in the chin area (like actually part of the helmet, so nothing interferes with the driver). The POV should see more of the track, while maintaining the view of steering inputs and such.
