Driving The Rush SR at COTA - Visor Cam

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I've been eyeing the Rush SR for a while now, especially since Gridlife hosts it as a spec series. I was very curious about how it drove in comparison to open wheel like PFM or the F4.
The guys hosting the demo didn't give me any information prior, so you are literally watching me hop in the car and go out blindly. The guys did a seat fit by adjusting the pedals and adding pillows behind my back, then strapped me in and I took off.
My conclusion about the Rush SR: the short wheel base makes it so the cars slip angle is very narrow between stable and uncontrollable oversteer. As I drove the car I figured out it does not like trail braking. Funny enough, going on throttle aggressively rotates the car much more controllably. These are absolutely opposite of how you should proper drive a race car, making it quite counterintuitive. It also does not take much to get to threshold braking and the stopping power is a bit lacking in my opinion.
The sound from this Kawasaki(?) motorcycle engine is addicting and the shifting is pretty quick, I wanted to keep downshifting! One thing about the shifting though, is the fuel cut is too aggressive making the car oscillate a bit violent.
I will say this car is absolutely more exhausting to drive in comparison to a formula car. Not because you're going faster because you won't, but the steering is so heavy and the car is so raw, which I absolutely love!
I had such a blast driving this car and learning it.
Thank you to Andrew and the rest of the Rush Autoworks team for letting me take it around for a spin!
