Driving the HIGHEST road in Washington and Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail

Join us on a weekend camping and hiking adventure in Okanogan County. We start by driving the highest AND most dangerous road in Washington State - Hart's Pass Road. We spend the night at Hart's Pass Campground, hike part of the Pacific Crest Trail, and enjoy the sunset views of the North Cascades from Slate Peak Lookout. Then we head down into the town of Winthrop, dine at Sun Mountain Lodge, and spend the night at Chewuch Campground.

Great video. We did that same lake hike years ago and loved it. When we got to the lake there was a guy there who had shot a grouse with a .22 and was shake 'n bake cooking it over a fire. It smelled a lot better than our "astronaut food."

We have yet to encounter anyone who has hunted and cooked on a backpacking trip, but that would be cool to see.

Thanks for sharing the spectacular views. I'm from Moses Lake, WA and haven't been up in that area.

The first time we visited Winthrop, everyone told us to go to Hart's Pass, so we went there on our second trip. Definitely worth visiting!
