Driving Test 19th October 2022 11:11am @ Gillingham Test Centre

In this test, the candidate was given a serious fault for failing to check their mirrors before changing speed when turning into a junction on the left where they stopped to give way to pedestrians. The following ambulance was apparently severely impacted by this according to the examiner. The rearview camera doesn't seem to show this too well. But still, I don't think it was necessary or wise to stop to give way to the pedestrians in this instance. Firstly, they weren't actually at the junction when beginning to turn, and secondly, it was a 40MPH road so to stop suddenly when turning could have resulted in an accident. And that was also what the examiner said, that the braking was very harsh.

Pretty harsh! considering he/she had a near-perfect drive.

I haven't even passed a test yet so I'm just watching these getting prepared, I would agree to an extent, Checking the MPH on the screen as they're firmly approaching the turn the learner is still doing 22-25mph which should've definitely been slowed to around 13. I think the real serious fault was because of the stopping position in the middle of the road meaning traffic has to swerve, it's not like the pedestrians were on the crossing / close to it hence there running, I don't think this should be worthy of a serious if the learned carried on.
