    I'm watching this and can definitely see where we're different. For starters you're not spending at least a minute trying to remember everything you were taught in expensive lessons only to whiff every ball and whisper "ffs" after every shot

    Yes probably because he took most of his lessons when he was younger because his parents could afford that. Or he played in high school college level with different coaches etc. Most adults don't realize how difficult this game is and that most really good players they see have a ton of experience at expertise throughout their life before they become adults. I would be willing to wager this guy played since he was a junior. The golf industry just tries to sell this lie that all you need are tips and tricks and you'll be good at golf and have a beautiful swing. It's not going to work without a bunch of time and effort and actual skilled instruction.

    Do you actually hit fades and draws with irons during the round if you dont have anything in the way (trees)? A lot of the pros now talking about sticking to one shape unless they absolutely have to go around something

  • @FreddieLawrenceGolf

    @FreddieLawrenceGolf

    Good question! For me, it depends on how strong the wind is. If it’s calm, you can stick with one shape. But if there’s strong cross winds, I feel that sometimes you need to move it both ways to stay on the course!

    @TFT2023 I totally agree. But if there's no wind, will you not hit a draw in a pin tucked into the left corner? I was taught to start your aim line to the middle of the biggest half of the green, and then to fade/draw it in from there. That way, if you don't curve it in, you're safe, and even if you slightly do the opposite, you should still be safe. All the while, making sure that distance control is #1

  • @andrewmanzano4792

    @andrewmanzano4792

    7 ай бұрын

    @@FreddieLawrenceGolfsame thing applies to drives in the fairway. I was taught (probably by Lee Trevino) that you shouldn't aim right down the middle of the fairway, since now you're splitting the fairway into a miss left and right that only has 50% of the fairway to hit. But if you start your line down the left or right fringe, and hit the shot shape that you are guaranteed not to do the opposite shape for or mess up too badly, then that you should do it. Because in this way, you are working with 100% of the width of the fairway, given that your fade/draw is greater than or sometimes equal to 0

    As a keen golfer, I believe the feeling of every shot that goes to you mind with the truth. Especially putting on the green. IMO, the Follow Through has huge implication of hand speed that translates to ball speed to deliver the distance wanted with a particular club. The circle momentum of the full swing controls the swing path all the way to finish high above your balanced body, as you demonstrate. Like musician, practice, pracitce and practice is a must to play well. Same for golf swing. I once had been a range rat myself. The more you practice, the more you discover. Physical and mental.

    @@FreddieLawrenceGolf. I like to use a little more energy on my shots. Widen out the stance, get a pronounced turn away from the ball/ getting loaded on the backswing. Your swing looks consistent with good rhythm, but you’re going to lack power swinging around your body like that. I’m sure you drive far enough, but to take it the next level, that’s where it’s at. IMO hitting from these mats is good for practicing a few things. Shot shape. Swing mechanics and keeping your “muscle memory” in shape. Mats are not a great way of gauging distance or ball striking. A brand new spongy mat will disguise bad shots, especially shots where you hit the ground before the ball. There’s a trampoline effect to hitting on a mat which actually will cause the ball to levitate slightly on a shot where your club hits the ground before the ball. Also your club will slide along the mat instead of digging in early, causing the illusion of clean contact. Just keep in mind mats are good for certain things, and should be treated a bit like a golf simulator…

    You make a good point but if the range has a shot tracer you can combine feel with bs data to give you and indication of how the strike was. But there is nothing like the lies you will get on a course I guess the mat can simulate the fairway if it’s flat though.
