I literally can't think of any other pack of friends that would get excited waking up each other at 4:30 AM to get out of cosy warm tents, no swearwords, no grumpy cats. Only slim hope of getting _another_ great photo of the Iceland.
@ThomasHeatonPhoto

Hahah. I think Thor was a little grumpy.
Jaw-dropping UHD armchair exploration enjoyed big-screen courtesy of Amazon Firecube from the cosy comfort of the Yorkshire Dales - all for nix/nada/nowt. No organisational hassle, no driving, no chipped paint, no moodswings … and above all no disappointment. Contrast my own early-June 2018 solo trip to Kerlingarfjöll (also southern Highlands, off the F35 north of Geysir & Gullfoss), when rain turned to sleet, sleet turned to snow and barely a glimpse of the destination was had, as each day surpassed the previous one in sheer misery. Outdone only by a trip to the Faroes the next year, when the rain bucketed down for nine of the ten days and vista after vista was enjoyed vicariously via KZread videos from a car parked at each 'view'-point … Thank you for taking all the risks on our behalf, Thomas - and keep 'em coming!
Oh man, that panorama was so incredible that I literally shouted for joy. It was like a painting from a Tolkien book.
The JOY in this video really puts a smile in my face. Nothing like having a good time with friends outdoors doing what you love. The urge to go out with a camera just shot up!
I might have to stop watching, you are making me miss Iceland so much 😃 Joking aside I love the way you present you videos, successes, mistakes, disappointments and all. Looking forward to the next one.
If the coming days are like the last two you will have a beautiful large, hardcover, slick page photograph book of Iceland and you can put me down for a preorder, Thomas. Today's post was what I was hoping for when you announced your upcoming Iceland adventure. When you said last week that you were leaving the ash pit on the south shore and heading to the highlands I said, "This is it! Now the real photography begins". You did not disappoint. All of your images today are portfolio worthy. Here's a toast to good photography weather and beautiful images to come.
My daughter and I have been blessed with two visits to Iceland and all I can say is I’m happy I don’t live there because I would die early through lack of sleep 😂 sleeping in Iceland is a wasted opportunity, the landscapes are incredible, the light is phenomenal, the experience is unforgettable. If there is one piece of advice I could give anyone it would be to hire a capable vehicle and get off the beaten track, don’t be afraid to use f roads, the rewards are epic. Respect the flora and fauna, respect the rules, respect the country and its people and the rewards will stay with you forever 😉👌📷❤️🇮🇸
You turned my good Sunday late morning coffee into an Epic but cold coffee - I simply forgot to drink it with my mouth open looking at those landscapes. Wow and Thank you....!
You always seem to be your happiest when you’re working with other photographers Tom. It’s good to see 😁
Holeymoley, hooleydooley and anything else you can think of, My mouth is drooling, What a beautiful place, thank you for taking me there Thomas.
There is a serenity and calm about you that’s very refreshing Tom. It comes across so strongly in your videos even if things don’t go quite right
The kind of Thomas Heaton video I love the most. Good to see you hanging with Bagshaw and Page.
I've been watching photography videos for 20 years now and this has to be the greatest one yet. Makes me want to leave Florida and move.
Thanks Thomas, good to see you found your muse. I see familiar terrain, I had all foggy conditions and only saw 2 oither cars in an afternoon of driving. Take care !
That panorama 17:02 is one of the best photographs I’ve ever seen. Wow Tom.
My two favorite landscape photographers in one video? Perfect!!! (Tom & Nick)
I'm so happy now.... Made me smile. Enjoy!
Completely, flippin', Beeeeaaauuutiful. In every, friggin', way. And humour with Nick, cutting away etc, very funny. ☺
The pano was just awesome...it was like a painting! It was a great video to watch and honestly standing on those rocky edges!!!
11:24 man thats some lion king or jungle book kinda lighting! Absolutely gorgeous ❤❤
That’s a motley looking crew. Kidding, that is a bunch of excellent shooters together there
I feel very lucky to have gone out on a good few workshops with Peter, absolute gent.
Getting woken up at 4am for amazing conditions and a bunch of excited photographers only to find out it's average at best seems like an authentic Thomas Heaton expedition experience. Too funny, cracked me up so much. Love your work!
4:35 This looks like a scene from Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding game. Even your orange backpack is like straight from the game. Fantastic!
Where so many other channels have headed into the territory of focussing on advice and tip videos week-in, week-out (advice which can be found in a single beginners book), rather than the art of landscape photography, you, Thomas, continue to produce content that actually has relevance to landscape photographers. That is being in the field explaining what you're seeing, and taking decent images. It's a pity so many on KZread have shifted away from the art, and onto, what I would call, commercial magazine style content. It's great that you continue to represent why so many have an interest in and love of landscape photography.

Thanks a lot. Don't get me wrong, it's tempting to drop an occasional 'educational' video, but I just don't enjoy it. Being in the field is where I am happiest.
@KevinNordstrom

Those are truly the worst videos too. Unfortunaltly they get the most views along with camera reviews. The art of photogrpahy will always be less intresting however its where the joy is found.
@soundscape26

@@KevinNordstrom The art of photography videos are more for established photographers (which can feel like a gated community), those who are starting or just want to improve their skillset will obviously look for other kinds of videos.

@@ThomasHeatonPhoto 👍 Understandable about the temptation, particularly with the 'algorithm'. For me, you provide far more education when out on location than any specific "educational" video can.
@Peter_Reed_Photography

@@soundscape26 That's understandable, and certainly there is a snobbish element in landscape photography around the art. Photography being an art, once you know the basics around the relationship between shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and some compositional guidelines, you have all the knowledge needed. After that it's about practise, learning how to "see" the image in the field, and playing with that knowledge to create interesting and unique images.
Great video! The pano is just incredible! Look forward to the next one 😀
The pano of Bob Ross’ mountain is beautiful.
Thanks Thomas. Absolutely epic. Looking forward to next video.
great video. Some beautiful shots. Understandable frustration but just a general love for being outdoors with friends.
Once again you brilliantly share the life of a landscape photographer. I always love when you share your struggles and mistakes and they always resonate with me. This video clearly shows your joy and awe at the wonders around you, and that resonates even more! I can never say it enough, thank you for bringing us along on these adventures! If your videos were twice as long I would still watch every second with rapt attention and a peaceful smile! P.S. Fantastic images and footage! P.P.S. Calendar ordered!

Thanks a lot for your kind words. They're very encouraging. And, thanks for the calendar order. Much appreciated 👍
I want that yellow bag! Oh yes, and I'm so glad you're with buddies now. Such a cool trip .
My spontaneous outbursts when seeing these photographs… “WOW!!!” … “Oh my goodness!!” … “WHAT?!?” … “OH MY GOD!” This landscape is truly incredible. Great captures!
The cloud inversion drone footage was epic!!
Awesome Thormas I love photography trips with friends who share the same passion.
Fabulous images Thomas and some classic tunes from your archive too to convey that feeling of adventure
17:22 Wow...... just Wow !
That pano was absolutely stunning!
Another Thomas Heaton classic. Love your videos man, very inspiring! Also very happy to see *you* being happy after some struggles and misfortunes.
Possibly your best video yet. Interesting on every level.
Absolutly fantastic vlog/mood/filming/editing/landscape and of course photograp ❤
Iceland is just otherworldly beautiful
Loved the video and those photographs were stunning. I watch them all but have to say the big landscapes you do are always my fave! Thats what made me subscribe all them years ago
Wow!! Your panoramic shot is stunning Thomas.
Stunning photos of the otherworldly Icelandic landscape. I like the photo at 17:20 .
Loving this series, so glad this isn’t the last video of this trip! 💯
That pano at 17 minutes is something special!
OMG dream trip. Also that panorama shot was amazing.
The panoramic shot was heavenly. Awesome stuff.
Watched all your videos from this trip, not only is it a great watch with stunning scenery but fantastic shots as well Thomas
That image at 22:56 is terrific, the jaggedy rocks walking you down into the valley and out past the distant mountains, plus the light, colours and the sky drama. Most excellent!
So nice to see Thomas, Nick and the others "Chasing Awe". I'm sorry that was uncalled for...but kind of funny. Another stellar video Thomas, thanks for sharing and taking us along.

As always what an awesome video. Amazing photos and video. Glad you are having a fun time with friends. Thank you for taking us along for the journey.
A just found this guy and I love his energy! Some brilliant content here. Genuinely wishing him all the success and gonna buy a calendar to support! Can't wait for next week's vid!
I loved this one, while I really liked all the photographers, I LOVED seeing you and Nick together again!
simply amazing images, well done mate!
That was a cracking update and really enjoyable watch. More please! 👍👏😉
The quality of this video is, just like all your other ones, unparalleled. Thanks for taking us with you on these adventures Thomas.
I'm envious of everything - except the bath in the stream. :-) Well done.
Brilliant! And this is what the wonderful Delly is for. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning views..wow...many thanks for taking us with you..Best wishes
This kind of videos and photography is just so freaking good to watch and see, my God what an adventure
Loving this Iceland series. Fabulous work ❤
Hey Thor! Great to see (a glimpse of) you! And 17:15, geez...
Your last video of the Iceland highlands was amazing, the scenery was incredible. This has been a bucket list for a long time, and you have reinforced my desire to go there. The images you showed us were works of art and I appreciate your passion to get it right. I truly enjoy watching your channel. Must say again your trip to the Artic is still my favorite. Would love to go there as well.
This series is kinda making me re-live my trip to the Faroe Island last May (with the same ferry, by the way). I went there for a conference + holidays, but found time for a good amount of photography too. Interesting to see how different people photograph similar locations! (I am non comparing myself to you LOL, your images are technically sooo much better, my point is that the "mood" is quite different).
Great pictures, what a gorgeous place. Sorry that you missed the first day with low clouds. those photos were great
What an amazing place (as usual), incredible imagery. Plus the bonus, to see Mr Nick Page in your video Tom, and some playful banter between you both. Great stuff. Be safe.
Looks awesome, hope to be able to go there someday. Thanks for sharing!
17:12 that’s a really good photo

If that makes it into the calendar for 2025 I'm in. Wow, have to get to Iceland.....
That was Epic...those vistas were superb, I'm so jealous. Thanks for this episode, so inspirational.
Did the Laugavegur starting from Skogarfoss to the hot springs in Landmannalaugar in 2014… 3 days of hiking with my camera gear… most amazing place ever seen and its even betTer walking than driving to the spot by car. Took there my most selling pics on 500px
Thank you for taking care of the land while photographing ❤❤❤ you’re a gem sir!
That pano shot is beautiful!
Great recap of our week in the highlands, Tom. Love the tent set up and fog sunrise sequences! Your storytelling is always spot on. Such a great time.
Wow, just wow
Great to relive this trip with you and the guys . Such an amazing time ! Thanks for documenting this for us Tom !!

We still have Nick's video to watch. It was a great trip though.
Once a friend told me "It doesn't matter where and how you shot, you could even trigger the phone camera while you take it out of the pocket, but in Iceland it would still be one of the best shots in your life"
6:40, stunning shot, I like the leading lines from the bottom corners of the image 7:29 the sky detail is epic 8:29 that inversion is amazing 10:38 Love the ground colours 11:19 love the lighting and the refection off the water 17:14 Magic!! wonderful subject and great colours, I love a good pano! 22:58 Great depth! Thanks Thomas!

Wow. That's like a full review of the video 👍👍
The photo you took at 6:43, i feel that the drone shot from before, when the sun was up and you had b6lur skies looked so much more beautiful, still i cant imagine what it'd be like to be there Thomas, good job on the video! 🥳
Thanks for taking me a place I hope to visit and photograph one day. I love the Bob Ross reference. I have watched his videos for years, they are so relaxing. As Bob says, we not make mistakes we have happy accidents. He would have been pleased with the images you got on this video.
Went to Iceland last year, and cannot wait to go back. Great country and amazing people. Anyone who has the chance, try to go in the next five years, tourism is increasing very fast, the place will change soon.
Thomas - just fabulous photography in a fabulous place. I would have gotten totally lost and never seen again - just wanting to hike on! Thank you.
I really appreciate that serie of video. Very fun to wacth
Fantastic! What an adventure in a beautiful place!
The new drone was put to great use the footage was incredible , fantastic images throughout as all the hard work was done just getting yourself there. Great to see the others and i am sure you all had a fantastic time, certainly looks like you did. The delica certainly paid off especially for the sleeping arrangements , im sure the others were not as comfortable in their tents as you in the van. Looking forward to seeing more from the trip, hope your well, take care!
Absolutely amazing trip. Love watching your adventure. Thanks for introducing me to the other photographers.
All the best for the rest of your adventure. Looking forward to seeing the photos!
That panorama is spectacular 👏
Great video Tom, that panoramic is just amazing it needs printing massive a minimum of 6’ wide and putting on the wall
Currently binging this series and loving it👌🏻
Truly superb...I've watched all of them...this one just amazing...stunning...loved it thank you so much ch 👍
A highlight to my week is when you post a new video. Thank you Thomas. It really is a lot of fun to see the world through your eyes.
Best episode so far! Look at those breathtaking pictures!
Who needs Bear Grills with you guys! I watch with envy and fear when you stand on a cliff side waving your arms near your precarious tripod. I feel such calm in your images. Wonderful video :).
@6:00 "I don't feel precarious, it's my tripod that's precarious" - says the lanky dude wobbling and waving his arms about whilst the tripod stands there rock steady 🤣
Amazing scenery, and even more stunning when shot with a drone plus the cloud inversion. Notwithstanding, the stills images are also amazing,
What a superb video. And that photo at 17:16. Just magical.. loving this journey.
I can't believe this video is 25 minutes long - it felt like ten minutes max. Quality content, I guess.
Well! I was going to write something really sarcastic like "That was crap! What a horrible location!" but I just can't! What a spectacular place! There's no wonder you called it the best photography location in the world. Your photography wasn't too shabby either! 😁😁😉😉
Phwoar!! What a trip!! Very keen on that pano at around about 17:30!!! Love it!!
