Driving in Croatia and Slovenia: Autocesta A2 & A4 E59 from Zagreb to Maribor

In this video you can ride along on Autocesta A2 (Croatia) & A4 (Slovenia) E59 from Zagreb to Maribor. This drive through two former Yugoslavian countries will show you some of the best scenery both countries have to offer as well as a breathtaking sunset at the end :)
Starting around Croatia's capital Zagreb, the A2 connects the capital with the border of Slovenia towards the North. Most of the A2 has a 2 x 2 aligment, although in some of the more geographically challenging areas the highway has a 1 x 1 alignment. Likely in order to save cost while traffic numbers are still acceptable, these parts of the A2 can always be widened / expanded in the future.
After crossing the border, the Slovenian A4 runs North to the border with Austria passing Maribor, Slovenia's 2nd largest city after capital Ljubljana. You can immediately notice the difference in highway exit density compared to Croatia. This is the essentially the difference between collecting toll via vignettes or collecting toll using toll gates. Exits with toll gates like in Croatia are simply more expensive to build.
The sunset while driving in Slovenia with the Alps in the background is a bonus and must have been one of the more beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The A4 is quite a smooth drive as especially this part connecting to the Croatian border is one of the newer highways in the country.
