    My 68 mk11, gold straight port head, triple 2" SU's, koni double action shock absorbers, all new rubber bushes, stiffer springs and thicker sway bar. Shocked many a V8 driver. Lovely car.

    I'd prefer just a slightly updated Mk2 with better brakes, suspension, reliability, etc. (maybe a bit more power but not much), but with exactly the same exterior and interior

    The reason there was a Mark II was that there was a earlier Sports Saloon with slightly different body features. The 2.4 or 3.4 Saloons, when the Mark II came along people statred calling them the Mark I. Our family car, many years ago, was a 3.4 with a close ratio, 4 speed gear box and a Laycock de Normaville overdrive - 5 gears!

    Nobody cares about the crummy old scrap cars. You know Britain is still trying to improve its steam locomotives and just can't get past when some you know, 1950s people actually made stuff. You chaps have been replaced. India own Jaguar now and your ideas are all too late in coming.

    He had vision of this when he was 14 years old. That was how he saw how the mark 11 then, how should look like. Now he got one. I would love to see his Jaguar xjc on here. Design seriously beautiful and amazing cars. Great designer.

    I had the 1962 Mk 2. The electric fuel pump on it failed as my then girl friend and I were climbing Porlock Hill in a snowstorm. We had to lodge overnight in a local B&B. On another occasion the - I think - vacuum tank - parted from its mounting and jammed the steering in Shrewsbury so that the car would only turn to the right. It was a great car though - and I like the red leather, the walnut dash, and the Laycock deNormanville overdrive - an essential item to keep petrol consumption down.

    delete the louvers and re-place the chrome bumpers and you've got the perfect Mk.2, but if the owner thinks it perfect the way it is then it doesnt matter what i think! stunning car still

    The louvres behind the wheels are to release air from the underbonnet. It's important to keep that powerful engine cool; But I do agree about those bumpers, these ones do not look properly 'in place'

    All the vents and all the plastic, for no reason what so ever. He actually managed to make the MkII worse, horror vacui or as its caled. The phobiia of the blank space. He is less of a designer, than the designer of the original car, it looks like a Tesco version of a master piece.

    Been a Jaguar owner the S Type 3:4 1968 back in 1972 but this is what I really wanted to feel and have there's something about Jaguars old and new that sets them apart from any other motor car on the planet love this/them keep it up!..

    Nothing sounds as sweet as straight six in full song, it's much more musical to me. The dash board layout is always my favourite like this. Reminds me of my GT Cortina concertina. lol

    I concur. Callum was a huge influence on the rejuvenated Jaguar line. His styling was beautiful and in the best of taste. And then given this classic, he pimps it out! Go figure!

    Wow! Ian Callum! Motor car design must be in the Callum family's genes as Ian Callum's wee brother is Moray Callum, Vice President, Design for Ford Motor Company, and responsible for the 2015 Ford Mustang and the new Ford GT!

    Damn, and I thought the older version looked fantastic. I mean, it still does, but that updated version is just so beautifully modern retro. I'd be happy just to see one on the streets, but with that potentially limited number, I highly doubt that'll happen. Regardless, it's nice to see it exists.

    Where can I buy one - I wish Jag company hired Callum to do that for them, and have a new one of the same inspiration...without all the modern strange slit eyes, without not needed internal "tricks" like rotating/moving cabin feaxtures (who needs them?).... An most importantly, latest engine versions, and- and Callum designed look. The look of this MK2 is absolutely lovely!!!!! Go Callum, ...and tell me where I can get a car like that in the USA.

    Still one of the most appealing cars. Sorry to say nothing today approaches the lines of so many of the British autos. The XKE coupe, the simple lines of the MGB-GT, Aston Martin, & the Healey 3000.

    I had a lot of fun racing my 1960 MK 2. Unbeatable in its class at the drag strip. Had to run against Shelby GT350 in autocross but was competitive.

    Used to salivate when Briggs Cunnngham parked his at our boarding school where he was a trustee (1959). He ran Jaguar N America at the time.

    Great looking car I love my stainless steel there isn't that much chrome tho. I've found a way to make my 3.8 really shine and picked up some hp

    Looks nice BUT what about the reported issue of the block cracking between the cylinders in 4.2 litre XK engines? Is that endemic OR simply a matter of inadequate maintenance of the cooling system?

    Would love to see a Daimler version that is one part classic continuation model (inspired by the related Daimler 250 V8) the other custom modernization in the style of Ian Callum's Custom Jaguar Mk2, yet powered by an uprated version of the 220 hp 4.5 or even a bored-out 280-300+ hp 5-litre version of the Daimler V8 engine.

    Growler can mean some different things in certain parts of the country! I think Jaguar needs to do a version of this classic Jag, like BMW did with the Mini, (even though they've ruined it by constantly making it bigger which isn't necessarily better), and Fiat did with the 500, but perhaps not as dramatic as this version!

    Pure beauty. £300k though? Hope he’s using all new frame/chassis etc at that price?!? (leftover parts from the 50’s/60’s stock as he def has access to the stockroom). I’m looking for a Mark 2 to do a resto mod on now and like many of his ideas. I’d pass on the red interior. But to each their own! It’s defo a head turner. And know “Endeavor” brought more attention to these models than the average non-Jag fans. I luv the lines on it. I saw a few pix from some of the late 50’s versions and am going newer simply b/c of the disc brakes and motor are more robust than the earlier models but saw several early ones done in 2-tone paint (like the Vette’s with the red/white pushed in side panels for a lack of a better description) but that idea appeals to me as well - but don’t think it’d work on the 60’s MK2 models as there no body lines to support that type of graphics where the 50’s model does I think?? (going from memory) Anyway, is it better to look for one (‘63) overseas & ship it to the US or try to find one here local and do a total frame off resto? Just started researching this after finishing my 240z resto-mod that was my first car at age 15. ($800!) Wish I’d hung onto it now. But turned out ace. Guy in Utah imported one from Japan for me and did a stellar job at a fair price. I nixed the Nissan carbs first thing for the Holley conversion but rebuilt the inline 6 as it was a PITA to tune back in 1985 and didn’t want any issues in 2020. Anyway enough car tangents. But if any UK dealers/sellers see this, hit me up if you have a 63 for sale. Cheers

    I always thought these would make make killer leadsled material. The car’s styling is derived from the Hudson Hornet and Shoebox Ford, so it goes without saying.

    The Mark I and Mark II styling is descended from the XK150, which itself is descended from the XK120 and XK140. Hudson and Ford? What were you thinking? You clearly have no idea about Jaguar history.

    Question you said two SU carbs they were biult with 3 SU carbs.The Disc breaks were two outer in the front wheels and two inner near the back LS Diff on the back. The original was a wooden chassis later were steel chassis. The first MK2 had a 240cc engine then a 3,4 to 3.8 and the 3.8Ltr was put in to the S type Mk10 and D and E type using the K engine. Now Lister too the 3.8Ltr created near to 300HP in the 1960s but the 4.2Ltr went up to 350 to 380HP in the 1960s. Just before the V12 came out. It was the 4.2 Jaguar engine that took the Etype to over 150mph on the road car.. But in the racing type the 4.2 Ltr Jaguar racing could go over 180MPH Before the V12 came out. But at that time GT40 and the New Ferrari had better reliability as Jaguar were known to over heat. But the Jaguar's were known as able to buy for the Road where as Ferrari Porsche and the GT40 well only a few were road cars?

    I think so also. Amazing that this car isn't deemed to be too expensive at 300 grand but the DB standard at 600 grand is too much because the DB standard is a far better looking and engineered car. Still. 30K and you have a MK2 like this.

    You are right it was. Makes me smile every time someone says mk 2 jags were in the Sweeny. I've never seen one. Only s type's. I own a mk2 and I love it.

    0:20 well that’s rubbish, the Citroën DS was the first saloon to have disk brakes on all 4 corners, and that was back in 1955!

    That car had hydraulic suspension and steering iirc. Almost like a more affordable Mercedes 600 but just as cool. 👌

    Aaryesh G. Yes, it did have hydraulic suspension but it didn’t have power steering. Hahaha that’s an interesting way of looking at it, I like that analogy because I love the DS and I love the 600. I always saw the 300SEL 6.3 as the ultimate more affordable 600 as it was like a baby version, powered by the same engine with similar styling etc.

    @@DarkKnightwing75 My bad on the steering 😅. Anyway, ever since I saw a DS Super 5 in a wheeler dealers episode, that has been on my "got to drive" list. The later models with covered twin lights are beautiful. And yeah the 300SEL 6.3 is literally a luxury muscle car.

    Not a fan of the custom, just doesn't look right. Its a bit like those people who have face lifts...technically its great, but visually it triggers my nausea. Leave things alone!

    I love jaguars, but I don’t like the looks of the Mk1, Mk2 and S-type. I much prefer the Rover P5 which is a very impressive looking car. M.

    They looked great and in 3.4 Litre ok, but the big mistake was turning that lovely engine into a boat anchor by reducing it to 2,4 litre, and the funny part is that leaving the piston diameter the same meant the registration fee would have remained the same if the old RAC rating still applied. still I suppose we can forgive jaguar for this brainsnap, after all it is British.
