Nice job. I've used a blade for many years on my long gravel driveway and its done a good job But I like the results I've seen with a landplane. May purchase one someday.

It’s definitely more simple than just a blade because it cuts and levels at the same time.

I have a Woods GSS60P. I love the thing in fact I have almost worn through the skid on the left side. I use it A LOT! One thing I do differently than you is that I typically start with the potholes then do the rest. On my final pass I will only use the rear blade with the tractor in high gear to get rid of the marks the skids leave behind and leave a nice layer of fluffy gravel. Great video. Also I will run the blades to where they are lower than the skids unless I am working on a flat track I prep for a local flat track pro racer. That way i'll just cut the high spots

Thank you. That’s awesome! I’m glad you’re happy with yours. I sometimes do that as well depending on the driveway. This one was so hard packed that it required multiple passes to break it up. It’s nice to have adjustable shoes, isn’t it? I try to tell everyone to make sure and buy one that is adjustable. It makes it such a versatile implement.

Looks good man. Been doing this for 5 years. The land plane is probably my most favorite rear implement for all of the reasons you said.

Thanks!! I assume you’ve watched the past ones? I’m so busy and it’s so time consuming that my goal is to release one every Sunday. I have a lot more planned, including some basic tractor stuff too to help newbies.

@@D70340 Thanks. My buddy talked me into creating the channel and it was a real struggle at first. I’ve tried really hard to post weekly and have done really good except for a couple weeks ago when I injured one of my knees. It’s been a learning process. I don’t follow anyone on KZread because I don’t use it for entertainment purposes. I only come here when there is something I want to research or watch someone do something. I don’t think I’ll ever get to where I’ll ever offer the entertainment level that others offer. With that self awareness I try to make my videos as helpful as possible.

Jared, great job brother, good insights on tough terrain. Hey, what’s the grey box on the left side of the tractor, where the step would be…a toolbox? Did you put anything out on it, with the same tractor I need to come up with some storage capacity. Thanks, Dan

Thanks!! That is a protective cover for the valves that control my third function and hydraulic levers. If you haven’t seen the hydraulic lever, they’re awesome. I love having them.

Pretty damn good job for what you had to work with Jared! To bad the homeowner couldn`t drop some 2A limestone on it, that would finish it off so nicely. Where are you located???

Thanks! It would be nice. Around here it is call 304 or 411 limestone. I couldn’t imagine how much he’d have to invest. He’s a pretty simple guy that doesn’t spend a lot of money. His driveway used to a lot worse and was nothing but dirt. He did some tree work for the township in exchange for a bunch of berm fill.

I'd like a hydraulic top link on my JD 2025R like you have . Is there a way to install one if I do not have a 3rd function on it ?

So these are running off my rear remotes, not the third function. Do you have rear remotes or any plans to get them? That’s what I would recommend over a third function that way the hydraulic output is at the rear. Unfortunately, there’s no way to actuate a hydraulic top link without some type of hydraulic output from the tractor.

Do you keep it in 4 wheel drive while grading? The tractor I uses is 2 wheel drive and the tires spin when the land plane is full of material, especially on an incline.

When grading, I usually keep it in 4wd so it reduces the likelihood of me spinning. If your grader scraper adjustable? If so, try reducing the aggressiveness of the cut and see if that helps. Also, try to see if you can pick up speed before the areas where you know you’ll spin. When going slow, the material has a tendency to build up in the scraper. Going faster gets it flowing out the back a little better. My last suggestion would be some extra weight on the rear of the tractor. Wheel weights, loaded tires, or something like that.

I just picked up mine 72 “ plane. When you set it up did you drop the side till they just touch the ground or how did you set it up? I raised the back just a little and dropped the front in the driveway on concrete pad. Seam to be holding the dirt and building up too much

How far do your blades sit below the skids? It depends on what I’m doing. The more you tilt it forward the more it will dig. The more you tilt it back the more it will ride on the skids. If you’re worried about it digging too much you can adjust the skids so the blades aren’t so deep also. When I’m doing driveways I have mine set 1/2 - 3/4” below the skids. One more question, how fast where you going. The slower you go the more it holds. The faster you go the more it flies out the back.

Buy a grader scraper wider than your rear tiers or does it matter in your opinion?

Mine is just a smidge wider than my tires. It would be nice if it was about 6” wider overall but I think a 7’ would be too wide for me. I have some places I take this where 6’ is tight as it is. I like a grader scraper that’s wider than the tires but it doesn’t have to be a lot wider. Let’s say you’re working on a driveway that has a grass hump along the driveway, if your GS is narrower than your tires then you’d have to put a tire up on the grass to get to the edge of the driveway. Also, if you’re trying to get up against something like a building you can only do it if you’re as wide or wider than your tractor.
