For anyone watching - the very first thing the guy does - pulling off the "plastic wood" trim piece - DO NOT pull it from the underneath like in the video - IF YOU HAVE the interior/ambient lighting package. There's a plastic light pipe - some call it glass fibre - which remains on the door pannel - after this piece is pulled off - and which is located EXACTLY at the points where this guy pulls from. Actually - the most brittle and protruding part of that plastic pipe is at the front (driving direction) of the trim piece - extremely easy to damage/break. INSTEAD - start by working from rear part of the door, where the trim piece ends - and work FROM TOP of this trim piece, not from the bottom. There will be a metal hook/clamp which needs to be pressed to fully release the trim piece from the door - in somewhat front of the piece - but that can be released once the piece is already abt. 10-15 mm off the door, in other words - the metal hook is easy to see from the top/easy to get to. Also - when releasing the door pull backing plastic - there's a plastic clasp on the door pannel itself, on front of the backing piece - which is easy to break - which is not addressed here. Also - on some Ali shops the metal-looking pieces among the switches are wrong (glossy instead of mat), and for plastic cast parts without the power folding mirror button - the cover for that place can visibly show bad mold lines instead of the missing button. All this - and much more - will be addressed once I post my video about, inter alia, this procedure - once I actually get the door lock to operate in order to get in the car :D :D Either way - thanks for the decent video, greetings from Latvia.

This is the best F10 door handle removal video on KZread. This is the only one that explains how to get the electrical connection out of the socket. The others skip it and don’t even mention how it’s removed.

Thanks for the video mate. Jump some word of advice: 1) The small plastic door handle cover can be a PITA to remove - don't force it or you may break the latches 2) Be careful with the rod, if you pull it together with the door card you may break the plastic clip on the actuator it goes in 3) Always make sure to put back the small plastic washers on the clips and make they are aligned before putting the card back on the door.

For anyone with F10 with the same two tone interior, just order black and thank me later 👍

I needed to replace a broken window control module & this video made the job very quick & easy. 🙂 Ps, On the first piece of trim, I found it easier to slide the large rectangular clip on the left out of it’s seat in the plastic, then remove the clip from the door card & slide it back on to the plastic trim before reattaching (the clip was well fixed into the door card risking breaking the trim if I was aggressive with it!)

Excellent. Thank you. What I would have done a little differently was to use the opportunity of having the modules taken out to give them a good wipe down and vacuum to get rid of any crumbs, crud and other dirt that would have built up over time. EDIT: see at 7:16

While you are inside the door ALWAYS check to make sure that the large black plastic cover that is covering the window regulator in each door is "SEALED" COMPLETELY AND SECURELY AROUND so as to not allow leaks as if not you could have a flood in the car. This is especially true if you have had any window regulator work done. The rear doors are especially prone to leaking via this unsecured black pad.

Great video. My interior colour is the same as yours. What is the exact colour of your leather trim? I know you didn’t get an exact match so it’s going to look off.

To be honest I don't why this issue happens to all bmw cars specially here in gulf area I got 520i 2016 and it has exactly the same damage door handle On the other hand I have es350 2014 still in perfect condition and no need to open the whole door to change it!!!

No way.. You didn’t pop that door card with a pry tool that’s for sure. It’s tougher than that.

Good video but i wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if i would put beige trim on an oister interior :)) as well most who have the interior lighting.. never pull the upper wooden trim and door handle plastic cap like this as you will damage the lighting fiber cable.

I’d probably check the sunroof drains and blow out with some compressed air. If that doesn’t work, wear a hat!

What type of screw driver ? T30 ?

This should be under BMW recall!! Apparently the whole world is facing this issue!

Do you have a Lego car? Nothing comes of easily like this. The door handle cover has two clips and one is impossible to remove without breaking it. Yours popped out like it wasn’t there, did you break it and pretend you didn’t for the video?
