Downtown in the late 60's/early 70's is what I see when I look at videos like this. Remembering all of the stores/shops/banks that are now gone.

I moved to Stockton 1981 to the early 90s lived on tuxedo backyard faced the canal off of country club right down the street from the graduate. I liked it back then I moved up from Southern California but in the 90s I got the hell out of there.

Many of those buildings have been boarded up or torn down now. I hated when they tore down the old Greyhound Bus Depot. The town looked better back in the 1980's, when this video was made.

At 1:55 where Davis Piano workshop right next to it was my parents business started in the 90’s for over 20 years, unfortunately the abandoned building behind us were occupied by homeless and caught it on fire around 2013 that led to us to shutting down and we decided to call it quits. I remember growing up in that area watching everything and everyone pass by, the good and bad I’ve seen it all.

I was so hopinh you wouldve kept going east down market instead of turning, hoping i could possibly see my kid self playing in the yard. Downtown was my home and all of this is so framiliar to me, every street and every store. I would ride my bike with my father around downtown. A time gone by

I came to Cali in 89 n since I was new in town n did not own a car, I was not able to go cruising downtown. We lived Northside by Angel Cruz park n pullium school. Only landmark I do remembered as a middle schooler as our yellow bus would take the long way home after being on that i5 highway coming from marshall middle was eldorado street. The old Chinese looking red roof was the welfare office. The other side by the water front was a restaurant with a nice view. Next to the ball park stadium used to be a high rise building that was vacant till they demolished it. We would used that area to launch our 14 foot aluminum boat. Winter at the square looking waterfront where the water ends were a hot spot for 20+ lber stripers where we anglers were fishing at 4am in the morning with all the fog n ish. What is tradition n still there is the Saturday food market under the hwy in front of the current welfare office now. Right in front of that Catholic church. Old memories only came back with a stimulus like this video here n we thanked you for allowing us to reminisce.

Yeah, they used to congregate sometimes (1 or 2) outside of the KJOY studio in front of the Hotel Stockton at N. El Dorado. I once picked up a hooker a few blocks down at Hunter in front of the courthouse without knowing it (she was walking alone after midnight) and I took her back to her "corner" on Wilson Way. She didn't look like your typical hooker, so it didn't even occur to me until I was halfway home that I'd just had a hooker in my car. LOL Good times. I worked evenings at B101 or Oldies 101 in North Stockton at the time and was at the courthouse downtown paying a fine for a ticket when the lady walked by.
