DRIVE '68 MOTOR SHOW - B/W & COLOUR
(19 Oct 1967) Whether you're a serious buyer or just a window-shopper, Earls Court never fails to fascinate. Movietone considers the line-up of new models, including the opposition from overseas and takes some of the new models out on the road - this "High-way Showroom" in colour.

That white Victor 2000 evokes images of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). Still a good looking car today.
Most cars of the late 60’s just looked so cool! And then there was the Austin 3 litre.... what were they thinking?!

Must have been a very lonely car, couldn't ever imagine it ever pulling a date. For I would guess all the other cars would run for cover when it was in a dating mood.
I know why Ford always insisted on a heated rear window......so you could keep your hands warm in winter when you had to push it.

Not a huge surprise given the value of them now. A few days ago (10/11/20) a bare body shell, with a block chucked in the hole sold at auction for £62,500!... plus 15% commission and 20% VAT... that's one expensive car!
The TR-5 featured a 2.5 litre motor...not the two litre mentioned by the narrator.

Love thSunbeam Rapier - looked like a Jensen at the front.
What type of injection system had the Truimph TR 5? Was it the Bosch D-Jetronic system, or something brittish?

"Something British", old boy. It had Lucas mechanical petrol injection, which allowed for 150 bhp, but in America the TR-250 had to settle for 104 bhp with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburettors and a milder cam, to meet American emissions control. Electronic computer-controlled injection hadn't been invented yet; that would have to wait until the 1980s...

Thank´s for the information. But you are wrong about the electronic systems. The Bosch D-Jetronic was introduced already in 1969 on VW and as early as 1970 on the Citroen DS 21 IE. But of course, it was a purely analouge system. But it was true electronic, with a big electronic control unit.

That Humber Sceptre looks wonderful with all that wood trim. Sure just a Hunter underneath but a great-looking one!
Luckily enough the Morris marinas all came with a complimentary bus timetable,
