    Hey, you’ll want to nail the upleg to the substrate as high as possible. With roofing nails. Typically you’ll want to place the nails where the building paper or water barrier can overlap creating a shingling effect. Ultimately the building paper will cover the fastener/nail.

    Can I use Rivet gun and rivets instead of Caulking?

  • @ethanbyers4550

    @ethanbyers4550

    Hi ZD, Yes, a rivet gun inside is ideal for this application. A little bit caulking will help with wind driven water as a bonus. Thank you!

    I would like to see you adhere this to the building. What kind of nails. What does the final nail up look like?

  • @ethanbyers4550

    Hi Laura, In this application we installed foil faced self adhered flashing to the building at the elevation of the flashing. Then we installed the drip edge flashing, fastening it with roofing nails. Lastly, take the building paper (Tyvek in this case) overlap the up-leg of the flashing creating the shingle effect. Installing the foil face flashing eliminates the condensation from the metal and the butyl adhesive seals the nails that penetrate the flashing. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    You mean transfer/. There is no changing of positions or coordinates. Since the item never had any exchange of units like making metric into inches. or making all units lesser by a certain percentage, scaling.

    That piece you bent over that was from the 45 you cut, why not just cut it off?

  • @ethanbyers4550

    @ethanbyers4550

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Joshua, Bending that over and up prevents wind driven water from going right into that seam and onto the wood your protecting. Additionally, you can add caulking to that 45 prior to bending over for extra waterproofing. Please let me know if that make sense. Thanks for viewing.

    In sheet metal trim you always leave those tabs for caulking, so the caulk is pressed and squished between the two layers of metal for a good water tight seal.

    Hey, We had this custom custom fabricated with a hemmed drip edge from Fast Flashings in Seattle, WA. But you should be able to google a sheet metal or standard metal fabricator near you.

    Hi Dylan, that’s a great idea. I’ll have to remember that. I unfortunately didn’t have those tin snips with me. Also, I was doing 2000 LF of this and didn’t want to get wrist pain or trash my tin snips. FYI everyone - they have a set of red, green, yellow tin snips for left, right, straight cut applications! Thanks Dylan!

    Yeah it’s a little overkill. Lol But this was specced out 18 ga metal flashing and there was a high volume. Hard to cut that for the whole day for a week straight. Appreciate the feedback Ricky Rosè! Be safe 😉😉
