It's so true. Navy vet here and our RDCs(Drill instructors) came up with the funniest shit to say.

"Cookie Chillout" - that was extra funny because that COULD be an actual phrase. This sketch was good, the way his voice broke on "Cheesecake Factory" too, I cracked up

@@ncrranger6409 No, at least not in the US military, or likely any Western military. The military discourages relationships within the service branch and between officers and enlisted, but is ok with both so long as they're not in the same chain of command.

When I was in basic training in the NZ army, we had a mate in our platoon whose mother was the commander-in-chief of the entire reserve force. He very wisely kept it quiet until graduation day. Smart man.

This is just for fun. It is not meant to be serious. Alec Baldwin is an actor, he obviously not in the military nor has he ever claimed to be. He is an actor, he is doing his damn job and fucking acting. I'm pretty sure people clicked on this video just to criticize it and be negative. Why watch it if you are going to be offended?

Maddie Brown i just watched it cause i love them but its always fun (for me at least)to see what they fucked up on.... thats not a proper position of attention, drill seargents are supposed to have a drill sargent insignia on their right chest pocket, those are haircuts need to be cut down so that the hairs are not touching the ear, those "snakes" on their boots (shoelaces) needs to be tucked into the boot itself, thats not the correct way to get into the push up position, definetly thats not how you recover from it as well, however i fucking love snl and its just a things i like to do kinda if ur really passionate about something and someone recreates it you would want to look for the mistakes they did lol specially here on the comment section EVERYONE will point out if you misspelled something

I’m 99% sure that the chili cookout part was just Alec Baldwin messing up his line, but the way he corrected himself made it 10 times funnier. It happens all the time during snl because the skits are performed live, so normally they just ignore it and keep going, but he was able to turn it into a line that totally could’ve been scripted. Props to him, that was awesome

It’s literally only 10 in TRADOC. The most unrealistic thing about this video beside not calling it Charlie company is that the officer is a dick. The few officers you see in basic are generally pretty chill

Beck is hardly in this but when he plays the straight man, he always makes me laugh. His delivery is the best of the best

As a veteran myself I spotted mistakes but it didn't bother me as much. They are not insulting or disrespecting soldiers. Out of the Army, collecting VA disability, got a couple of college degrees, here for a good laugh or two and nothing else. Those that are criticizing the skit or the people that didn't do their homework when it came to standing at attention when calling soldiers to attention or wearing unit patches in training it's just a skit. Hey maybe they didn't think about it past the uniform.

How about it’s false valor and it’s required for movies or tv shows to have deficiencies in the uniform to be federally legal, all the boot laces are untucked that was a guarantee that it would be totally legal. The more you know, HOOAH!

Technically an NCO as a recruit. That doesn't happen. I think I saw 1 corporal the entire time I was in (3 years).

could've been one of those NCO from other branches that transferred to the army from the navy or air force since they didn't have a specific mos they wanted in the other branch. I've seen a sergeant from the navy who was doing basic training with us.

Yeeesssss I was saying the same thing. That recovery is the stuff of acting legends. Watch Leslie Jones flub a line or any host or cast member and they stop halfway through to correct it and it's always awful and awkward and here by embracing it, he flipped it and made it a thousand times funnier. I kept wondering how one recovers from a flubbed line and I think I found my new technique
