Drill Bits - Oil and Gas Drilling: From Planning to Production

Energy Training Resources is a leader in oil and gas industry education. Our primary business is conducting industry overview courses for oil and gas companies and contractors/suppliers to improve their employees' working knowledge, team working capabilities and communication skills. We also have public courses available.
Posted here is an example segment from a video on DVD that we produced called Oil and Gas Drilling: from Planning to Production. It is 2-hours long and follows the drilling of a horizontal well through planning; site preparation; rig mobilization; drilling of vertical, curve and lateral well sections; hydraulic fracturing; well connection; and production facilities. It's the most comprehensive drilling video available and is being used by more than 500 different companies and institutions. It is highly useful for both professional staff and rig workers.
The video also includes side tutorials on all the major drilling topics such as casing and cementing, well control, drill bits, rig safety, directional drilling and more. It is presented in high definition and includes animations of down-hole activities. The rig used in the video is one of the most advanced land rigs in the industry.
You can purchase the video and learn about our courses at www.energytrainingresources.com.

    The video demonstration was so fascinating as I've always wondered how it looks underground, but I would suppose that water would be sprayed at very high pressure (PSI?) to send the debris up. I loved the videos! I'd like to see more of these.

    A PDC bit was brought out to the mine I work at to test how it would do in our rock. It lasted 12½ feet.

    @hook blieght oh yes I did he problem is it shouldn't have used it at all. I told the rep it wasn't gonna work. Those aren't made for the rock we have. It's made for sand. It was like using a butter knife to butcher.

    Ive always considered buying a PDC bit. But im always worried it will clog with mud. In my drilling terrain we have alot of mud followed by layers of hard stone. I use Tricone tungsten always because the water and mud flows through it easily. I hope I can get more advice on PDC resiliency to various formations. And resiliency to clogging

    PDC bits are fine in mud. You need to inject water and a drilling additive to keep the bit face and waterways clear. Hope this helps.

    Why would anyone name a drill bit "impregnated" XD Drilling people!

  • @EnergyTrainingResLLCetr

    @EnergyTrainingResLLCetr

    6 жыл бұрын

    Good question. Impregnated bits are bits that have diamond embedded within them allowing for higher rate of cutting and drilling through harder formations. Because diamond is so hard, having the diamond embedded within the bit creates a high level of support for the diamonds to keep them from breaking. Thus getting the name impregnated which is akin to embedded.
