Drifting Eggs At The Tekapo Canal | Huge Trout Fishing NZ

Last weekend we travelled too the famous Tekapo Canal in search of the monster trout it is known for. The fishing despite being kinda slow wasn't too bad. Lachie landed a 20.5lb rainbow and I managed too hook into a MONSTER brown trout, estimated at 25-30lb before it pulled the hook right at the bank. A smaller rainbow about 13lb then grabbed hold of my egg before running into another fisherman's line and snapping off. I feel like I'm getting a bit better at fishing these waterways and hopefully that means some big fish in the near future. Thanks for watching and see ya'll next time.

yikes, that brown was huge it hurts seeing it pop off at the net like that.
Gutting about the brown bro. Did better than me anyway. When I went down I had a big fish on for about 10 seconds and bloody lost him. Curse of the go pro I reckon.

Yeah, can’t really play the blame game. We all could’ve done something a bit different. All a part of learning plus he’s usally the one reeling in the fish not netting them

@@thatfishingfella4672 Ye mate you did well to hook him, that’s an achievement on its own but was frustrating watching him try net it when he could of just extended the net out and got him haha
Must be the far end of the canal, not near Tekapo at least, will have another shot sometime soon
