    Looks a great setup for an extended tourer! As an automotive design engineer building a similar setup in a Defender, I'll suggest a slight modification for better ergonomics if anyone wants to build similar. Have a slightly lower seat height so your knees are bent more like 90°, especially with the cushions on there & use the bed panel that fits in the walkway as an angled seat back for support. Also whilst I love the operation of it, I'd suggest having the desk/workbench slightly higher in relation to the body position whilst seated & able to extend further towards your torso if possible. That will give a better working angle for your spine & feel better if you're sat working on a laptop/tablet etc. for an extended period of time. Still a cracking build though as everyone wants different things, well done 👍

    I love it! Am I the only one attempting to do this in a Landcruiser shortie?! I think I must be, 'cause if there is a single example online, I'm buggered if I can find it. But this gave me some ideas for my build, so thanks!

    america has got a shitload of great campers and cars to put them on from what ive seen, especially since fuel is cheap there so you dont have to worry if you get a humunus gas guzzler thats got an equally huge camper arrangement built into it. Not that it has to be huge to be good but i have seen a ton of good ones there.

    That's a Mulgo conversion & you basically use the internal fittings to climb up as there's no external ladder. It's slightly different to the Alu-Cab in operation as the catches are internal rather than external & the Mulgo design is basically a fully engineered roof replacement cant rail with a tent fitted to it, rather than a rooftop tent resized to fit instead of the roof panel. Both good products, but as an engineer I'd only buy one of them 😉

    what would be the weight of this set up. I was concerned the ply maybe too heavy, but if you are eliminating runners that would offset that a fair bit. Could you combed the width of those small draws to save more weight

    Hey Matt. As shown in this video the total cost for the cabinetry is approx $6k - installed (currently - Nov 2020). But there are lots of options which you can add / leave off which greatly affect the cost so the price is dependent on each individual customers needs.

  • @markbeech189

    @markbeech189

    This style system in the Troopy is not really workable with a bench seat in there - simply doesn't leave enough space for useable storage with the walkway in there. Lots of our other Troopy designs do work with the bench seat - you could have a bar fridge plus a drawer or 2...just no walkway.

  • @michaelhermans4753

    I agree, the problem with the lifting roof is you are removing valuable roof rack space for all your “other gear” the walkway also removes storage space so your left will little storage all round These fit outs alway look good with no gear in them
