it has the basic rim brake on the front but it is not strong enough. I will upgrade the front wheel with one that has a disc brake to improve

Best video about this subject so far! Question: In the description for the Axl kit it says "DO NOT BUY THIS ONE" what other one would you recommend?

Thank you so much! So the design on the one I used is flawed where it will always break near the sprocket where it is a smaller diameter. I am looking into getting an axle with the sprocket mount inside of both the axle bearings. This allows the axle to use the full 1 inch outer diameter and less of a stress point to prevent it from shearing off again. The problem is I am cheap. I don’t want to spend 300 for an axle. The next option I am looking at is a 44 inch with inside sprocket mount from Amazon but it also has crummy reviews

Been a minute since I checked out ur channel. Absolutely love the growth and content. 1 question though..any update or future plans for the v8 mr2? God bless

I found mine in my friends construction scrap yard. This is an industrial size pipe that can’t be found in Home Depot unfortunately. But in most cases, you can find cut pieces like I found discarded at construction sites or your friend’s back yard

I am trying to decide what makes a drift bike frame more drifty...why did you decide to mount the engine behind the axle? It reduces wheelbase but is that better for drifting?

Good question. The more weight bias in the rear means the more unbalanced the chassis will be making it more willing to drift. A shorter wheel base helps too

Really like your design since you don’t have to use a pipe bender. Any chance you the design drawn out as a plan? Or lengths needed ?

This might be dumb question, but my son's gokart the engine sits in front of the so if it sits behind the axle doesn't mean the wheels turn the opposite way

No good question actually... This just changes the tension side of the chain from the top to the bottom.

the metal i bought from my local metal supply store and the brake came with the axle .

So what axle needs to be used? Cause your detail says do not use the one you have listed?

In my next video "drift trike upgrades" I explain the axle kit that works better and the link is in the description. The video also shows the comparison between the crappy one and the better one I found which is still working out well.

What Axle kit do you recommend since the link says not to buy that one?

I just looked and found one under a different name. It has the sprocket in between the bearings which is needed. type in 32 go kart axle kit alloy rear axle with brake dics brake master cylinder and sprocket. this one I see is 112.15

One more question where did u buy the bike Handel bar

The sleeves are from a 12" ID PVC pipe i got from a friend in construction. I just cut it in 5" sections. It was free : )

How'd you run your throttle cable and brakes?

i am using the simple front brake that came with the bicycle. The rear brake and brake line came with the kit that runs along the frame to the rear disc. The throttle cable runs down the downtube and clamps directly to the carburetor on the motor.

Yes. The parts list is in the video description. also, this axle broke. so use the axle i reference in my video titled drift trike upgrades.

In reality, what good is a rear brake? I’m building one for my grandson and I’m thinking I’ll add a front brake. Your opinion would be appreciated. Thanks

Needs both! This thing is actually pretty fast. I have rim style front brakes currently. I would prefer the newer and stronger disc brake setup.

no. this only changes the tensioned side of the chain. in this case, the tensioned "pulling side" of the chain is on the bottom.

No explanation on how the axle was assembled?

2 reasons. this keeps the wheelbase short and this also keeps the weight toward the rear which makes it drift easily.

Definitely needs a front wheel with a disc brake setup. The rear brakes that came with the axle kit work well as is.

@@scantronsgarage well in the description you wrote not to buy that axle. The new axle in your other video doesn't come with a rear brake. So I was wondering if you knew about a rear brake that would fit the new axle?

@@damienbarton6597 Oh I see.. No do not buy the original axle. The second axle has a bigger disc that helps. I did use the original brake caliper from the first axle kit. I believe these are sold separately from the axle kits as well.
