Dricus Du Plessis highlights what he loves about competing in UFC

Dricus Du Plessis highlights what he loves about competing in the UFC.
I got to sit down with Dricus Du Plessis the week before he fought Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 and scored a massive highlight reel win.
In this clip from Fitz Nation, he talks about the anxiety of competition, what he feels when it's time to make the walk to the Octagon and clarifying his comments about Africa that have riled up Israel Adesanya.

I'm in my low 50's and I used to do my share of street fights and even fought one year of Golden Gloves, but I had a friend who was a BEAST and undefeated Golden Gloves boxer for something like 10+ years. I also saw him go undefeated in street fights while laughing at guys and knocking them out, literally laughing in guys faces that were trying to kill him. His first pro boxing match, he absolutely froze back stage and puked when they told him he was 5 minutes or whatever from going out to "box". I had NEVER seen him like that, it was WEIRD. He literally froze and couldn't go out and fight, they had to call off the fight. To this day I cannot explain what I saw in understandable words. This was literally the baddest man on the planet in my eyes, had NEVER lost. Yet, when it was time to go out and fight/box another undefeated boxer, he froze. Somehow he doubted himself when literally NO ONE else did. It blew my mind. I've also seen boxers start shaking and convulsing when they were about to go out and box/fight. I don't know if it's the fear of losing or the fear of fighting, because I've seen them fight so many times and be absolutely 100% confident and relaxed. The human brain is complex. The fight or flight aspect is a thin line.

We have 2 experiences here: First is an emotional understanding of a psychologically trying experience or two. It’s interesting cuz I’m no fighter so it’s foreign to laugh in the face of a man China kill u. Faced fear enough to conquer it. Until he didn’t. The 2nd is a report of judgment on a learned experience projected on a stranger rooted in principle. Here to learn, love and be a light.
