Drew's entire character is that he's a massive hypocrite. Drew has gone on record numerous times saying he absolutely hates the MITB calling it a "joke" so watch him win the MITB and use it the way other's have used it on him. That's when he'll win the World Title back.

Honestly, I don’t know how this isn’t the right finish. Gunther has the title match at summer slam, and you have to think Drew and Punk is happening then. Gunther needs an opponent, so the title can’t be on Drew.

People assume Gunther will win, but the way HHH and Priest are talking he might not. I could also see Drew winning MITB and cashing it in during gunthers match. Dave Meltzer fans seem to think wrestling is real and usually watch AEW so they get surprised when story happens.

Drew winning would of been a mistake with Gunther waiting for his shot at Summerslam.

People seem to be too caught up in their feelings and not the actual strory that is being told here. This is the best story arc that Drew has been a part of since like the COVID era. And this story is far more NB than him just winning a title "just because we're in Scotland". We need to take a seat, get pop corn and enjoy the ride. This is how it feels when wrestling not just booked for the sickos

The only concern regarding punk-mcintyre match is punk's tendency to get injured Promo wise it is easily the hottest angle in wwe as of now

Dave and Bryan have no idea what a payoff feels like. Punk screwing Drew was the right choice. This allows Gunther to beat Priest at Summerslam, and Drew to face Punk at Summerslam. Punk will win and eventually win the WHC from someone, then Drew gets his moment next year at Mania against Punk.

100% what I was about to post myself. That was a great way to throw gas on the fire until Punk can go. This all leads to Drew beating Punk for the title - or "Punk puts Drew over" or however anyone wants to look at it. This was good faith booking that Drew has essentially put Punk over twice with Mania and this, so Punk will put Drew over in a big way. But yeah, if you are more in the "you deserve it" camp, then this booking would be infuriating. I'm in the "let them work me" camp. It's better entertainment when you invest more time. Not unlike a TV series or a film trilogy. I don't think the audience has decided who they like/hate more at this point either. Let them cook. To me, the only question is do they blow this off at Survivor Series and build to Punk/Rollins at Mania, or do they go the whole year with Drew/Punk and find something else for Rollins, like Roman Reigns or Gunther.

I also don't think they necessarily count how many moments everybody gets, they're just trying to draw the most money for the longest amount of time until they have to do the blow off. Also, it's only been about 2 or 3 months for this angle. Mania was about 2 months ago.

This was perfect and the drew deserved his moment crowd are stupid, I bet anything drew is as happy as pig in shit, he's gotten more over in this feud with punk than ever he's in biggest story in pro wrestling and it's going to carry raw for months, the title is nice sure but he's had it twice but he's never been in a story this big before. this story is his moment,he and punk are creating magic this was so good and I'm happy for drew and punk there doing such a great job together.

Not a fan of the finish. It does add heat to the feud, but Drew-Punk is a much more compelling title program than Priest and Gunther. You could've just had something where Gunther jumps to Smackdown to challenge Cody. Also, pissing off the hometown crowd like that is generally not a good idea.

I was there. Great finish and an awesome surprise with how Punk was used that makes this feud even more exciting and compelling.

Gunther has the title match already at Summerslam so logistically how would it work for the title?

Priest is very lucky he didnt break his leg/ankle when he got caught in the ropes. The commentary team were good at covering for Drew trying to free him by pointing out Draw cant win the title if he's in the ropes. I also didnt mind the finish, it was pretty obvious but they did a good enough job at the fake out. This rivalry has some real heat now and they'll tear the house down at Summerslam.

Drew screwed himself. No one screwed him. When Daniel Bryan beat Cena clean at SummerSlam, Triple H and Randy Orton screwed Bryan. In both cases with Drew (Mania and yesterday) he got distracted. Punk did nothing wrong yesterday. He counted to two. It wouldn’t even have counted if he got to three. Drew got distracted and attacked Punk. THAT’S when Punk low blowed him, after he was provoked. No one screwed Drew yesterday except Drew. And how are you gonna do Punk/Drew for the title when Gunther is guaranteed a shot at Summerslam? Do it in 3 weeks at MITB? That’d be lame and these guys know it.

I thought it was clear that Drew wasn’t winning that match. They didn’t have Priest hold MITB for that long just to cash in and lose it 2 months later. Plus Drew’s deal w/Punk is so hot that it doesn’t need the title involved.

Some people have such short supply of patience and attention spans. By the time CM Punk drops the championship to Drew at Survivor Series, this match will be one of MANY story beats to what will be Drew's crowning moment. And WWE will make a f***-ton of money.

As they say, there really was two obvious finishes here, and I was on board with either. If they went with Drew for the win, then they have to build to Gunther most likely even though Punk is probably cleared soon. With Drew losing, they can do Priest and Gunther (if MITB doesn't interject) and also have Drew and Punk as a blood feud. I can see why this muddies the water on the Punk and Drew heel / face status, but I think Drew has been sanctimonious enough and has puts the boots to Punk enough that you can argue Punk's corner well enough. The story is that Drew's claims are legitimate, that he's being screwed by other people when in reality he keeps bringing it on himself. That's how I see it.

Someone needs to tell these guys just because 11,000 people in Scotland or 17,000 in Montreal or 81,000 in California want someone to win doesn't mean they HAVE to win. You can’t do Drew vs Punk for the title right now because Gunther has a title shot. So it’ll probably be Priest vs Rollins vs Gunther for the title because there’s no way they are doing Priest and Gunther one on one. Then they’ll do Drew vs Punk and Cody vs Orton. New Bloodline vs Old Bloodline.

Clash at the Castle was a joke from the start with the inflated ticket prices WWE/TKO saw an area starving for a PPV/PLE and then just making one up and people bought into it the fact there was no pyro shows you the time spent planning it They should have just did RAW & SMACKDOWN tapings but they did a PLE for ticket prices The only good thing about Clash was it was on for 3 hours and not 5 hours

Dave probably thinks Tony putting the belt on Saraya at Wembley for no reason was great booking. She won and did nothing with the belt. It was just to get a cheap pop in London 😂.

I kept hearing "The feud doesn't need the title" and in one sense I agree with that opinion. But why wouldn't you want your hottest feud to be for the title also? Since when was it a negative thing to attatch the belt on the hottest feud?

How do they talk about payoffs and just forget Gunther has a title match at Summerslam? Punk vs Drew probably on that card and Gunther beats Priest most likely if his ankle isn't too bad or maybe even if it is.

How is it the finish from mania? Dave makes no sense

Like I keep saying, the more I see Punk, the more it's like, "I don't care if isn't get cleared, if that dude is well enough to run to the ring, he's in ring shape, Drew can put the boot to his face at least once". And by this point, that Drew just gets mad and doesn't hit him is super silly. Doesn't even have to be a match, a single good whack with a steel chair would be enough physicality. But none at all? They better start calling Drew the Scottish Saint or something. And yet again I say, if a feud is really big on its own, IT DOES NOT NEED A TITLE. Not only is it unnecessary, it punishes whoever was the champ until you got it into your head that this one match just had to have a title in it. Matches don't need titles, people do. The only person who should be having a short title run is Punk, because we have no idea how long he can stay healthy, and the only person he should be dropping a title to is Drew. But, yes, that's going to mean a losing streak for Drew. And I think the better idea is them fighting over a title SPOT, not the title itself. Punk beats Drew, goes on to win the title, and when he gets hurt (and I am sure he will), he drops the title to Drew, who gets the long run he should. If Punk could do a long run, he'd be healthy right now.

No one on planet earth would be strong enough to get Priest out like that. The only way to get out is to go back over the way you came

People keep mentioning Gunther has a title shot at Summerslam as if that is a reason Drew couldn't win this match. Drew could have won and simply went against Gunther which would clearly be a great match and retain and hild thr belt until he drops it to Punk at a big PLE. Sure Drew and Punk for the belt cant happen at Summer Slam due to Gunther but still no reason Drew could not win to start his reign now.

I think it woulda been a cool idea if Drew won BECAUSE of Punk. Ref gets KO'd and JD come to help Damian anyway only to screw it up as Punk deliberately helps Drew secure the title. Then the stroy becomes Punk being in his head as being the only reason he won the title and Priest furthering his divide with the JD by saying they cost him the championship.

Drew doesn't need to win the title now, he needs to win it after using the MITB to win. Thats the story they've been telling, and it makes sense they dont want to do the Punk/Drew match for the title yet. That's more of a Mania feud so if Punk is coming back soon you can do a run where Punk beats Drew, then Drew wins the MITB, then Punk chases Drew eventually winning the Royal Rumble and having a main event match with Drew that he wins. This also feeds back into the whole "Drew/Liv will take over Judgment Day" because with Drew losing, he may look for help. I think this was the most logical and expected thing. I hate the idea that every hometown person needs to win the match

This is also about Gunther. He supposed to job at SS so Drew can wrestle Punk for the title later? So that is the "reason" for this. Poor locals got disappointed. How is this worse than Roman v Cody part 1?

I got an email from wwe earlier in the week for clash at the castle and the cheapest tickets were £330. I live down south in Bognor so you’re taking the ticket and then another £300 odd on hotel and transport etc. Would love to of gone but it was just too much.

Sami didn't beat Roman in Montreal, Zelina didn't beat Rhea in Puerto Rico and now Drew didn't beat Priest in Scotland. Don't get why people are mad about the finish. WWE is always gonna do what they wanna do 😂. If a couple people on the Internet are mad, so be it.

Gunther taking the title at summerslam, drew taking it at mania

If you take the title off of Priest, then you confirm that he was a transitional champion. Plus, if you follow their storyline, Punk didn't screw Drew over at Mania. Drew went out of his way to tease Punk, and Punk got the better of him. I'm not saying I agree, but that is the storyline.

You don't need to have Drew win just so he can win in his home. The finish makes sense with the direction of the storyline. Also Priest shouldn't be losing the title this early.

I'd love to know why WWE did NOT stop this match when Priest seemingly got injured. As someone who actually cares about wrestlers safety being a priority over the show....this needs a response. If I'm to give WWE the benefit of the doubt here it would be that Priest (who knew if he was injured or not) lied to the ref and both the ref, Drew and the doctor in the back all believed the lie. This was merely a botched spot...continue accordingly. Based on the reports of the scrum afterwards that Priest says his knee feels like trash...this tells me he KNOWS there was some kind of injury...deliberately hid it and finished the match. If there's any truth to this (and we'll know as doctors check on him) then Priest should be reprimanded accordingly. You either care about wrestlers well being or you don't. Its not that hard. As much as this match meant for the home town people, the Priest run and the continuation of the Punk/Drew story...it's never enough to force someone to work an injury that could make things much worse.

Dave bitching about the booking when it was the obvious choice is hilarious. They're not booking themselves into the corner of Drew vs. Gunther at Summer Slam, and Drew's whole character is that he's bitter that everybody fucks him over.

Keep this same energy for osperay, he bear roddy just to beat swerve for a different belt . Also if the prices are so outrageous whole families wouldn't be coming and they wouldn't be selling out constantly...😂
