The Price Is Right has always had a policy of defaulting in favor to the contestant if anything goes too wrong, such as the 1986 shell game incident. Some people have used this to their advantage in obviously purposeful cheating moves. For instance, look up Flip Flop Cheater. From what I saw of him, Drew seemed particularly good at making sure people who had trouble were helped while still keeping their dignity, though Bob had some good television moments having fun with his frustration, heh heh heh.

There was one thing about him that was mentioned in a youtube segment back in 2010, he had the Drew Carey Show and was on the price is right and whose line. But in all of this, and i'm not sure about this, and i could be completely mistaken and dragging him under the bus, but it was some sort of controversy that they were making a point about in the sense that he f*cked someone over, either a host/time slot/co-worker. But in all fairness i could be just as wrong and it was someone who was being contempt towards him and it was the other way around.

  • @doddsino

@@robertcarly9183 Nope. Any time a gameshow screws up, it's on them. There's a code of ethics thanks to the scandals of the 1950's, so if there is something abnormal that happens, they usually either award the prize to the contestant, or they invite them back. That's only fair, especially since losing the prize is a drop in the bucket for the producer anyways. Now, if a contestant blatantly cheats like say on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, having an audience member cough to assist in providing the correct answer, then yes, they have every right to strip the prize from you.

This shows how TV celebrities have changed. Bob Barker and other game show hosts back in the day were stars. Not so much now. I don't see Bob Barker hanging out with ordinary folks telling Price is Right stories like Drew is doing.

I respect both Drew Carey and Bob Barker but Alex Trebek takes the cake here. He chose to be the 'host' of Jeopardy instead of the 'star'. He was willing to be the butt of a joke, loved both Will Ferrell's portrayal of him on SNL and Kenan Thompson's Black Jeopardy skits. And he became a rare symbol in our society that encouraged intellectualism. I could have seen Alex Trebek popping up on random podcasts had he not succumbed to pancreatic cancer.

They weren’t expecting to have an additional 30k cost for that pc version of price, but there you are! Glad they stuck with the “if the house blows it, the contestant wins it” rule. Definitely not the contestant or Drew’s fault, and nobody needs to go to jail. PRODUCER: Next time, take the fishing line out!!!! PA: Sorry, my guy. 😢

Odd that Drew would wrap up the story by saying the guy saved the show 10K. Sounds like a casino operation. The games are rigged against you, and makes me wonder if that invisible fishing line steers chips away from center.

Mistakes have been made since Bob barker started and they always let people take the prize. You tube has all the old videos of people guessing exact prices fore prizes even whole show cases. These two host are so kind great entertaining people love drew and he will go forever we hope.

@@IronMan3582Game shows are under heavy federal regulation as a consequence of the quiz show scandals from the 1950's. If TPIR didnt give the contestant the money they earned as a part of playing plinko, TPIR producers would go to federal prison. They would pay hundreds of thousands in fines. Game shows have federal agents who live on set to make sure that things are run legitimately. So, I am talking about how TPIR was compelled by federal law to let the girl keep what she won, it wasnt that the producers were menschs, they had no agency in the matter.
