Are the majority of aftermarket/generic blades sold “universal“? I wouldn’t want to mess with a washer all the time.

The Dremel brand blades fit perfectly, but they cost a little more than the cheaper, after market blades sold by Harbor Freight, Walmart, and other discount stores. I included the adapter option for folks who want to save a buck or two, or may already have a cache of blades from an different multitool.

Great tool and a very good tutorial - especially for someone like me who is tool challenged. Can you tell me what blade to use to cut into a tire and a plastic tote? I have to make some feral cat shelters and would like to make a smooth small opening for the cat to be protected and warm. I actually would like to make a circular hole but the circular cutting tools I bought to use with my drill aren’t working well. Could you consider another tutorial using the Dremel 4000? I bought one to use in my jewelry making but get confused with the collets. Last request, I have a large pair of pliers that got wet and froze. I soaked it in vinegar and scrubbed off the rust, dried it well in a warm oven and used WD 40 twice but it’s still frozen. It’s a good quality pliers and was my dad’s so I want to fix it and not toss it. Can you consider a tutorial on how to unfreeze a tool? Thanks so much!

I've never had a situation where i needed to cut a tire, but if I did I would drill a 1/2" starter hole and use my hand held saber saw or even a reciprocating saw to make the circular cut. Be aware that if you use the multi tool it will be slow. If you are going to cut into the tread area be sure to use metal cutting blades because most tires have woven steel belts and with the multitool you won't need a starter hole. You should be able to cut the plastic tote with either your wood/metal or your wood only blade. I'm not a jewelry maker, but I think the 4000 comes with just one collet and all of the accessories have shanks that fit that collet. Of course, if I need to replace my 20 year old Dremel rotary tool, I would buy the 400 and I would do a review on it. Here is a link on a method to clean old rusty pliers. What blade do you use to cut plastic?

I usually just use a wood/metal blade. Even hard plastic is comparativly soft compared to metal, so it cuts right through it.
