I love your reviews. You are a young channel and already covering topics that most channels not covering properly. From the presentation you are almost at the level of vacuumwars and the only thing missing would be similar visuals and illustrations that add slightly more information.

I watch vacuum wars too. Great channel. That said, I often find that they rush through their reviews in the effort to make the videos as short as possible. Jamie seems to go more in depth and cover things in more detail, which I really do like. As a KZreadr myself, I know that people often prefer shorter videos, but when it comes to reviews like this; If I'm considering buying a robot vacuum, I want to know everything so that I can make an educated decision, so I'd rather watch the slightly longer and more detailed video. Jamie is great covering both the pros and cons, and pointing out potential issues etc. :) As for the graphics, I think vacuum wars "borrow" a lot of their graphics from the manufacturers themselves. I assume you're referring to the animations of the internals of the vacuums and so on. Other than that, some simple text to provide numbers and specs when needed should be more than enough. :)

i watched vacuum wars since they started, at the beginning they were doing vids of 10 to 20 min sometimes, now (since about 2 years) they always do 5 min, they are shit, they dont cover half of the stuff that Jamie or Adam (another channel) cover

I'm glad I took my chances with Dreame after returning my Roomba Combo J9+, the L20 Ultra has blew my expectations and I'm excited to see where Dreame will be in a few years compared to other brands.

It's not fair that they didn't include the swing feature with the L20 it is capable of doing this. Dreame can be more generous to their customers especially since the L20 just came out a few months before this one.

I suspect they will add that through a software update.

One note of caution for some users. You mention how quickly the dock heats the water for the hot mop washing. The dock is also relatively small. This makes me think that the water heater works like the ones in a basic coffee machine - passing the water through a fairly thin pipe surrounded by a heating element that flash-heats it. That’s a perfectly reasonable design tried and tested in probably millions of coffee machines around the world including the ones I have used for many years. My note of caution though is that I live in an area with very hard water where limescale buildup is a big issue. In the past when I haven’t been careful about descaling and/or using softened water my coffee machines have tended to break after about 12 to 18 months so for X30 Ultra owners in hard water areas I suggest treating the dock like a kettle and making sure you either only fill it with softened water or descale it fairly regularly, or both.

@@jamie.andrews One thing the L20 couldn't do is detect low contrast objects, particularly black cords or backpack straps on dark hardwood floors, or light gray cord on beige carpet. It would be interesting to know if X30 improves in that area.

@@jamie.andrews Also how they react on toys. My son have a lot of smal cars. About 7x2x2cm. They end up everywhere in the house. And one more thing, how to they handle with higher thresholds, around 2cm high.

This looks really good. I stayed away from the L20 because the dock was too big. Went with the Q Revo instead, which has been great except for the object avoidance.

I bought RobotPox vacuum robot and I am so happy. It's muuuch better than my previous robot.

Appreciate all these reviews, especially on the newer models! I would like to see the comparison. They currently have promotions and am comparing both of their latest models. I find it perplexing to this day why Roborock doesn't include rotating mop pads on their newer models such as S7 or S8 Ultra and now the S8 MaxV.. but they do on the Q Revo..

Rotating in my testing is not always better. The coverage for one is better as the S series pad is wider and has more surface area.

Worth the upgrade I would say no for most. In the market for new, if you can spring for the X30 do it.

Could you do a mini review of robotvac detergents? They're hard to find in Europe (Norway) and are really expensive. Are there any differences between the brands/aftermarket/China (my only options at one point in time).

Yeah we would love a comparison between the L20! I’m sad about the dock buttons. It made it feel more premium. I have the L20 and I’m still within the return window but want hot water mop washing and the smaller base station. Plus I think it has off peak charging in the app. Also, why get rid of the gold around the lidar?😂

Ahh it does have off peak charging. I missed that one, good catch! No reason the L20 can't have the same. I tried to test the benefit to hot water washing and the only thing I could come up with is it could kill bacteria, but I'm not sure it is hot enough for that. I also think drying them it what keeps bacteria away. It sounds good to wash with hot water, but staining the mop pads with various liquids resulted in no noticeable difference in cleaning between hot and cold. I tested for hours. Maybe I have not found the best way to test. My wife suggested grease and I was thinking that hot water in the kitchen is beneficial when you have dried on stains which we won't have on a wet mopping pad. I dunno what to think honestly. They got rid of the gold and the one piece top lid.

I wonder how much more additional time is needed with this feature. I like the extension of the mops on other models, but I was afraid of exactly what you came across on this X30 Ultra review. Waiting patiently for your review :)

@@akeshake5230 I already have video shot for the hair derangement feature on the X10 so it will be in the video, however if you want to know the result take a look at my X8 video as it is the same system. I like your suggestion on the extra time for the butt wiggle. I'll try and add that info in. Like most things there is good and bad with it.

I just pulled this out of the box and it's currently driving around the house "returning to charge" not finding the dock. It started it out at 34% battery. It's now at 29% still driving around for the last 20 minutes doing nothing but wasting battery and never docking.

As an update, I just reviewed the 'quick start' documentation and this isn't mentioned, there is a recessed power switch on the upper right back of the dock as you face the back. This turned out to be why it did not register, find, return to the dock. It just successfully returned and docked itself after the initial fast map task. So maybe all will be well now. tl:dr - Find the switch on the back of dock that the instructions make no mention of and ensure it is in the 'on' position.

I just sent mine back on 3/11/24. My iRobot 980 (2018 model) was far and away superior in mapping and edge to edge than this vacuum listed above. The only functions it did well was mop cleaning and drying and auto emptying. That's it.

I would like to see comparispn video between the L20 and the X30. As i´m considering both (or maybe X40 if X30 doesn´t come to Europe.)

Great review, not sure if you plan on testing the Roomba combo J9 plus but Irobot has really fallen behind other brands.

Definitely would like a comparison between the L20 and X30. I was frustrated to hear that the X30 came out because I just purchased the L20 in December. While I like the idea of hot water washing a lot, I don’t think it’s worth upgrading. I am interested in that new tru cut roller brush and I’m wondering if it’s compatible with the L20. Also interested to know if the what other attachments are cross compatible, such as self cleaning dock and a non proprietary detergent dispenser for the L20.

Not sure if the tri cut brush will work with the L20. Nothing in the dock is cross compatible between the 2. The robots are fairly similar and honestly the L20 is a great robot.

You’d think they would be cross compatible and designed with different interests in mind. It seems the X30 is ment to replace the L20. Very strange decision on Dreamys part. X30 vs Q Revo Maxv is going to pop off. Any idea when this may happen?

I don't have the MaxV. I expect I should have to at the end of this month and start testing.

My roborock s7 maxv can only suck 30% of rice paper debris on hard floor at max+ vacuum mode. Maybe that's one more vacuum performance test?

I've been struggling with my L20 Ultra and wondering if the issues were addressed in the future models. The automated cleaning features don't work and their customer service is absolutely useless. If I mark an areas as carpet, it detects it as a virtual wall then refuses to go past it to clean other rooms. If I DONT mark it as a virtual wall it tries to mop the carpet. Clean genius mode does not work at all, same issues it will sit there and try to mop the carpet and no amount of mop settings up and down have changed it. Customer service's response was "sounds like you don't like the product, want to return it?" when all I want is just a routine cleaning to vacuum then mop but I guess that is too difficult for this product in some situations. Looks like this uses the same software and has similar issues, hard to complain about how well it cleans though. Very much agree with your comments on the self cleaning mop area not well thought out. They made a great product with a crappy app and a few misses but hard to argue that it doesn't clean well when given a specific task.

I could not get any of the scheduling to work because of mop pad/software issues. It was so dumb. Also mopping feature did not work because it was of some hardware issue. So ridiculously difficult to get it replaced with a non-defective one.

I think it’s a combination of software and hardware issues. If you have a perfect device, the software is less of an issue.

Can x30 be conected to fresh water and plumbing system like l20? I have the cuting hair roler in my l20 and still have hairs on sides of it. But much less.

I’m able to buy this in Korea now. I’m curious if you think the Q revo maxv with its advertised spec sheet may be a better product than the X30? Price doesn’t concern me much, I just want to get my hands on the best possible machine. Don’t mind waiting a month or two to get a product from what I understand is more reliable and trusted brand.

This is a good bit better, but whether it is twice as good as the price suggests that I would questiin some. I know the L10s Ultra is getting old and I notice it is slow to navigate around objects compared to the X30. It also does not have detachable mopping pads, a swing out mop, hot water mop washing and the pads don't lift nearly as high as the X30.

Originally i preordered the eufy and now switched to x30 but i am wondering if its worth it to get the x30 over the l20 ultra?

the doubt i have with using your own cleaning solution is, each solution has its own proportion of diluting so if you can refill it with your own, how do you control how much of it needs to be automatically diluted by the dock?

You don't dilute it. The dock does that as it mixes it which is the beauty in using detergent injection like this. Carpet shampooing machines have used this method for years now. The solution in the tank goes in as concentrate. Personally I would still use Dreame's solution, but I know many use Bona as well.

@@jamie.andrews that's exactly what im saying. I have detergent X and Y, X must be diluted 1/50 in water, and Y 1/20. Of course you have to put either of them pure on the dock, how do you control the dock how to dilute it? Each one dilutes differently, the dock always dilutes the same amount of detergent/water parts

@@xeon2k8 If someone uses something other than Dreame's solution they will have to see if too much soap is being put down. If it is they it will likely start to see foam. Honestly it goes through it so sparingly I doubt you could really get it wrong.

Thorough review as per usual. I like the X30 Ultra, however while I'm not an expert at all I think I'd wait 2 or 3 generations or 5 years before I think it was worthwhile investing in a flagship model. I'd also like the extension arm to be able to extend further to get under couches & a low TV table & get into hard to reach areas. Any thoughts on the Dreame L20 Prime? I'm interested because the disposable bags on more expensive models seem like a waste of money to me. All the English speaking vacuum review channels seem to review the same current top 6 top of the line flagship models, & ignore the 1000's cheaper brands, models, & versions. Robot vacuums appear to be a booming industry at the moment.

@@jamie.andrews sorry I made a mistake, the version is the "L10 Prime". L10 Ultra is the (old) flagship version. The L10 Prime is the mid-range version without all the features of the Ultra. (The L10 Prime was released a couple of months ago.)

I like Jamie Andrews channel & subscribed however most of the robot vacuum review channels only review the same current top 6 expensive top brand flagship model versions which is great if you are sponsored (Jamie Andrews isn't sponsored) but if you have to buy it with your own money & you're not a professional reviewer it's a very different perspective. The budget robot vacuum market has grown significantly. I was shocked how many 1000's of different brands, different models, different versions, different sizes of vacuums there are now with the majority of the features the top of the line flagship models were especially released with only a year ago. The entire industry & technology is booming very quickly.

I would love to have a L20 ultra VS X30 review. U can buy a L20 for around $850 in Denmark but the X30 is around $1450. Is it really almost twice as good?

At launch with the X30 being cheaper than the S8 Pro Ultra I would say X30 hands down.

Jamie, is the navigation on the x30 much better than the L20? I returned that one because I found the navigation to be poor compared to my S8 Pro Ultra. Also, I’m interested in how you would compare its performance in cleaning ( both mop and vacuum) to the new eufy x10 Pro Omni. I’m aware of some of its shortcomings, but wonder what the real life differences may be. Thank you and great work on this video.

Roborock is king as it relates to navigation. With that said I personally do see any real issues in my testing. Every once in a while object avoidance can trip it up and cause it to do with things. They navigate the same though. I will have a video out for the X10 OMNI soon! Then I will look into comparisons.

I would buy advanced vac-mop robot if 2 year warranty included, that being said I would wait until Costco has Roborock Q Revo Pro ...(Costoc currently sells Roborock Q Revo ...of course within 2 year anything's failed will be allowed to return to Costco!)

I tend to agree that, incorporating the very reasonable caveat that the price might be too high for many people, for someone looking for the absolute best money-no-object (within reason) robot vacuum/mop the s8 MaxV Ultra is the one I’m most excited about especially since I can get cold water and drain connections to where I place my dock so the fully plumbed unit will be a possibility for me if it is released in my country (the UK). If it’s not I might well consider importing it. We won’t know for sure how good the s8 MaxV Ultra is until testing tells us whether it lives up to (my) expectations so I’m eagerly anticipating your test video Jamie.

For Dreame? I think they have one of the best apps aside from Roborock. Never had a single issues with them and I have been reviewing Dreame for a long time.
