Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.

When you react to the next song, BOCA, select English (US) for the subtitles, the singer's name will be displayed. The automatically selected regular English subtitles do not display the singer's name.

Their "Deja Vu" MV also shows the name of the singer next their lyrics. You can watch or react to it at any time, as it is not part of any duology, trilogy or septology. It came about through a corroboration between Dreamcatcher Company and SK indie game developer Vespa for their King's Raid RPG mobile game.

dreamcatcher \:D/ scream is part 1 of their dystopia trilogy which exposes the darker side of the internet. specifically scream addresses online hate/bullying. I know it's hard to take in the first time you see the video, but the imagery does abstractly symbolize the net. dreamcatcher often uses pop-culture references to help convey their themes. the tree is actually called the tree of language, the title of their respective album. you can see writings within the tree's inner walls and its roots are portals to different places. if you are familiar with game of thrones weirwood trees, many compared them to the web by how one can get information past and present. so that's the reference. parts 2 and 3 of the dystopia trilogy are boca and odd eye. the dystopia trilogy may have been inspired by a series of very high profile idol suicides in preceding years.

Thanks for checking out more Dreamcatcher! I saw that MrJackpots1326 gave you Deja Vu as another of their MVs that has the names on the subtitles. Deja Vu is the title track that was released prior to Scream, though it's not part of any of their main storylines. It is a collaboration with the mobile game Kings Raid. Their video for Boca also has the names with the subtitles IF you pick the English - UK version that's available. Boca is also the direct sequel to Scream and is the second part of their Dystopia Trilogy. Boca means mouth in Spanish and in this song, Dreamcatcher are telling haters to shut their Boca's.

That's super interesting. I was wondering about movie soundtrack collaborations. Video games didn't even occur to me, but makes sense. Some video games are epic now, and contain enough story to make for several movies. Case in point: The Last of Us.

@@KPopOnLock yea, they've done 2 game collabs, the other being a song named R.o.S.E Blue and an anime opening for the Kings Raid anime. That song is called Eclipse and is a Japanese release. Both songs have music videos, though the Eclipse one is just scenes from the anime and some behind the scenes footage of them in the recording studio. Their music, especially the songs associated with their storylines, tends to have a cinematic feel so seeing them involved with a TV show or Movie would be amazing and would fit well.

They're just finishing up their European tour and the pattern with them since Covid ended has been at least one European and one North American tour each year. You can pretty much count on them being in the US sometime this year. Their biggest US fan base is in California. They're also due for at least one comeback this year as a follow up to the VillainS comeback last November. There may be a third comeback since they tend to release albums as trilogies. Scream is the first song of the Dystopia trilogy: Scream, Boca, Odd Eye. The next trilogy after that is the Apocalypse Trilogy: Maison, Vision, Bon Voyage.
