Callahan actually chooses each seed that is played in the manhunts. They are specifically chosen to make the video interesting. However, the skill that Dream plays in these seeds are undeniable, is that the situations are unknown regardless if they knew about the seed overall or not. Dream is truly the king of Minecraft Manhunt. His luck was insanely good.

The biggest reason Dream does so well in these manhunt videos is because he's very ingenuitive, and that makes the hunters wary of him. They have to be careful when they lose him because he could either be gaining distance away from them and gathering resources and making a Nether portal or he could be setting a trap to undo their own progress. They don't necessarily fear him but they are intimidated by him, especially when they haven't seen him in quite some time and don't know what all he has or has been up to. Dream is very well educated with the game's mechanics, and the hunters KNOW that. He looks up and practices different mechanics to use to his advantage in these manhunt videos. And the fact that they're always surprised when he pulls off the stunts he learns tells us that they don't prepare as well as Dream does. They have the numbers but Dream has the brains to outwit them, most of the time.

i think one of the things beneficial to dream is the fact they have to communicate with him in the call giving him leverage on that end where he can hide whats hes doing whereas they really cant unless theyre somehow all together for a time

@@retromei 🤔 even if Dream can hear what the hunters say, why don't they ever divide and conquer? Send 1-2 to chase/bother Dream and the others, get materials? Most of the hunts are everyone chasing Dream and then screaming when he turns around to fight. 😱 That's what I 👀 and it's great. Am I missing something?

Yes, Dream doesn’t cheat!

I think a couple of them, such as the desert temples’ apples, can be attributed to Callahan. He apparently scouts a lot of these seeds before dream and the others actually do anything on them. He looks at cool spawns, yes, but I’m assuming he also looks at what environments appear around them. Villages and other buildings make the manhunt more interesting.

@@visidron8563 Mind games does involve a bit of luck, especially in a life or death situation. In this case, Dream decided to intimidate the 4 hunters, hoping to buy himself some time to recover. If the 4 hunters, especially Sapnap, weren’t fooled by his intimidation, everything would’ve ended for Dream right then and there.

10:00 that was the only clip in this video that didnt include luck, dream made them think he wants to fight them and he is confident, he acts flawlessly and scares them. Pure skill, Pure 69420 IQ.

Intimidation is heavily luck-based. If you can scare away your enemies, you can prevent a fight altogether and that’s EXACTLY what Dream wanted in this case. He is clearly at a major disadvantage with low HP that he can be one-shot and low saturation that disables him from running away. Dream is well aware that he can’t win in a 1v1 in his current state, so he decided to go all in on intimidation to prevent getting into one, hoping to buy himself some time to recover, which does fortunately happen.

He said himself he didn’t know that he’d have enough time to craft before he fell too far past the table

Pretty sure there are plenty of failed runs where Dream isn't so lucky, and the footages are never released due to him dying early. It's a pity, he probably pulls off awesome plays too in the failed runs and I would love to see them.

If people think it's scripted (especially at the start) due to "good luck" and insane clutches, they should know that the ones where Dream died early did not make it to a video

Out of all manhunts, we see only the most entertaining ones and that's what made him so popular

A key factor for there being so much luck is the rule they have for manhunts. If the hunters kill him within 20 minutes, they win a card prize and the challenge restarts, so he will have enough footage for a good video. And because the hunters are very skilled, dream only survives long enough for the video on his absolute best runs. This requires a combination of incredible luck and insane skill

I believe there's a 50% chance for fire to go out when you're at half a heart

Probably it's not just luck, but a few little George's scripts and Callahan world edit. Still, Dream's manhunt series is one of the most enjoyable content on the Internet.

Many times they mention George made the mods, the manhunt is also not vanilla (not just the compass, but probably the droprate, etc). Why don't Callahan also add some extra for make it interesting? As I said it's still the best show, but don't be naive.

This was probably released before the final manhunt, so I get why these moments weren’t on here, but there were two moments in the final manhunt that Dream had insane luck on: 1. Very early in the video, the hunters all but won. Dream was at low health and saturation, he was towered in the air with no way to get down, two of the hunters were making sure he didn’t try to get down, and all the hunters had diamond armor. It seemed like the end, until one of the hunters that were also towered up threw down his bucket to another hunter who needed it (not sure why he did). Acting quickly. Dream jumped off the ledge, grabbed the water bucket, and water mlg’ed to survive. He then stole the fish the hunters were cooking to regain saturation before running off again. Without the hunter throwing the bucket and the others cooking fish at the bottom, Dream would’ve died. 2. At the end of the video, Dream and the hunters had a final showdown. Dream killed all the hunters except George with TNT before bouncing off a slime block and using water to let him survive in order to face George. The two battled, knocking each other off. Dream fell into the falling water from the water he placed and picked up immediately before the showdown while George tried pearling to the mainland of the end. George, however, died on impact, causing him to drop his stuff at the edge of the mainland. Seeing this, Dream used the fishing rod he had to try grabbing the ended pearls George dropped, which were at the edge of the cliff. After a few attempts, Dream successfully fished the pearls, allowing him to pearl onto the mainland and finish off the dragon to win. Without the water Dream placed earlier AND George’s failed attempt to survive by pearling onto the mainland, Dream would’ve lost.

At 10:45 this is proof Dream’s manhunts aren’t scripted because no one would have known where the pearls would have fallen even if they planned Sapnaps death.

see the issue with the first "lucky" play is it wasnt even rng based it was simply how long dream spent in the lava and thus he lived on half a heart

Real quick, the shear clutch had even more luck, because the way Sapnap placed it meant that just the 1 corner block was in his way, if it was two leaves, he probably wouldn’t have made it, and if it was the center with wood underneath, he definitely would’ve kicked it.

I found 2 god apples in 2 chests in the same temple and that was my 3rd temple ever

So either Dream. A. Stages the manhunt videos to focus on being entertaining rather than authentic. B. Is blessed by God.

It mostly stage and scripted. They come up with good ideas about what they want to do in the videos, like interesting ways Dream can escape. The maps are all hand picked and scouted out for interesting locations. During filming they monitor Dream's health if he is low, the group will back off. They have restore points to where if Dream does accidentally die, they can restore to a point. HOWEVER: A lot of it is still skill and doing some crazy stunts.

@@fragbeauty "is it possible to do it first try without every having trained for it" Dream was already planning on making a boat, 2 he literally does train for manhunt practicing every way to mlg to survive fall dmg, speed of crafting, finding things in his inv/hotbar etc I've seen him show some of the ways he trains. He comes up with plans for traps to beat the hunters for every video so that may be why you think it's "scripted" but if he didn't he's just running around with no goal or idea of what to do and has to come up with several plans on the top of his head (cause the hunters do respawn). But it isn't scripted, unless not diving into a 1v5 with no plan on how to beat 5 people multiple times is scripting, or not using videos where he dies like 2 minutes in or in a very boring way.

A defense for Dream is that he had a lot of normal to unlucky attempts before these lucky manhunts

Mojang should re-add luck potions into survival minecraft and can be obtained by brewing "clay" into a brewing stand.

I guess you could say the shear clutch was some SHEAR skill

With the boat clutch, Dream could have easily MLG block clutched at the top of the tower and survived as well. Interesting that he still had boat in his head and went for it. Instinct, insane precision, and near death experiences. That’s why we like Dream.

I think the fire aspect 1 sword also makes dream a threat and making the hunters scared and doesn't want to attack him, so, @PurpleMatter, I recommend you to add the threat status to your future videos.

Callahan needs to choose good seeds that Dream has a decent chance at escaping the hunters on otherwise he’d fail manhunts early on in the begging a lot over all slowing down how quickly we see him upload. 4:57 I completely agree that the original hit man was legendary. 11:50 And they wouldn’t have uploaded it because Dream died right of the start, of course I think you knew that.

On the topic of the boat craft clutch: Just before Sapnap knocks him off the tower, dream places a crafting table, and in his analysis video he says that that was him attempting to make the boat but then Sapnap knocked him down, forcing him to craft it on the only other crafting table in reach: Antfrost's last block

He made a debunk video of him debunking the claims that his manhunts are fake. One of the moments is this. To put in the word of the man: "If you fall too fast, you'll fall through the water". The water falling is only 3 blocks, and he fell for more than 10, which you'll need at least 6 blocks worth of water falling to even consider survivability

If the hunters didn't hit Dream (mentioned close to 11:54) the speedrun would have been: Dream: I survived around 10 seconds

The funny and the craziest clutch I ever see is the one that Dream shout in his microphone "come here" that make Sapnap scare! U didn't mention the fact that in the 4 hunters rematch, when the hunters had prot 4 aurmor, dream trapped them in the nether roof, but if 1 of them had a flint and steel they could have gotten out of there, the fact that none of them had a flint and steel is super lucky for dream

that wasn’t lucky tbh. dream knew they didn’t have flint and steal. he explained that he did that play in the first place because the hunters said they didn’t have flint and steal.

The first "luck" play seems unlucky to me, since he was on fire due to a glitch and he was on fire for a super long time.

All the seed-related luck is bc of Callahan who scouts seeds looking for ones that would make good vids. Also maybe girl 6th hunter like niki or puffy?

Right before this video, I have watched Karl's investigation on the Dream speedrun controversy. And in that video, it is relatively clear that they are using a mod that increases the chances of such rare item loot in chests. IMO that could be disclosed a bit more clearly, but it definitely makes the series more entertaining.

The wikipedia says there's a very low chance of a tree spawning in a ravine. So yes, Dream did get lucky.

For the one when the Enderdragon threw him off the tower he could have pearled if he had any

The hunters literally helped dream survive xD
