This was our closer for my freshman year. I had never cried so much in my entire life. Especially the dream on part. We would face the visitors side and march and as soon as the trumpets get louder we slowly turned around and you could feel the adrenaline rushing through your body at the DREAM ON! Part. Probably one of my favorite shows ever.

wild to hear the original arrangement since our band is so small a lot of us are playing different parts. A few examples are the baritone solo is now a tenor solo, the trumpets play with the alto (me ;-;) at the beginning because I’m the only alto for this song; which also means that around measure 20 is horrible for me 😂. but oh well, and the moves at the end are wild.

Was this intended to be marched to? I don't know too much about marching bands since I've only been in a middle school one, but all of the pieces we've played were at 120 bpm and in 2/4 time. The high playing in the trumpet is pretty comfortable for me while not marching, but i could never imagine doing this while marching. As well, some of the pieces on here have meter changes which would be very difficult to march to without stopping or doubling a foot.

it's probably a stand tune, but I'm sure bands have marched to it. they've probably just set the tempo at a basic pace and the drum majors probably conducted like cut time, but staying on step isn't hard because it's left right left right, but I see where you're coming from

You're right, most would just call it a B major chord with a flat fifth in the altos and upper woodwinds, and a natural fifth everywhere else. I think the arranger just added that for tension to drive into the final F major chord

I'm a senior and I'm also the only first trumpet this year and I know that it's scary that it's all up to you now. I do miss having someone playing first part with me, cuz that's what makes it more fun. But there's nothing to worry about, because you also have the option to take it down the octave, which is what I call improvisation. It's like when you miss hitting your spot, and yet, you own it by not moving out of attention. Same here with music, if you're are strong and wrong musically, the judges won't take points off, since music counts the most points in a marching performance. But I still encourage you to keep improving your range so that you can have a more successful first year as a high school freshman.

I love these classic rock arrangements you guys have!!! If I could pick the show that my band did, I'd pick Livin' On a Prayer (kzread.info/dash/bejne/e41hqKWnnsnNhaw.html) as the opener, Carry on my Wayward Son (kzread.info/dash/bejne/lq6oz5h_pc7fZdI.html) as the middle number, and this as the closer. Unfortunately, my band director isn't that into this type of stuff.
