That's not to say he's NOT strong. I'm sure he is, given every single sinner's reaction to him on the street when he was walking with Alastor. I just feel like there's A LOT more to him than just being a strong ancient overlord.

With age comes experience. He’s the oldest overlord so he’s got centuries of experience under him, that’s why Alastor was a bit nervous when seeing him. I hope we get more of the overlords in season two. Specifically Carmilla, Rosie, and Zestial. (…and maybe a teeny bit of Zestmilla…)

I so want to see more of Zestial. He’s so mysterious and his design is wicked cool and I especially want to know how he and Camilla met and what makes them so close

My theory is that Zestial was the leader of the church during the Salem Witch Trials. First off, the voice and black robe are very fitting for his role and the time period. Also, he deals with information rumors which during the trials he would need to collect to determine who to execute as a witch.

That would be interesting especially since, if that were the case, he seems to have changed a lot in hell both in how he views women (as he seems to view carmine as a friend and equal) and how he gathers proof of the rumours he hears (choosing to directly confront alastor about his disappearance and carmine about killing the angel)

What if he was a witch himself and took that role to ensure people wouldn’t execute him.

Zesital is one of the most intriguing characters, and he was only shown in a single episode, yet I want to see more of him in Season 2. I like how he and Alastor share a common love of old-fashioned tactics and do not attempt too brash, dangerous and impulsive actions like Velvette and the Vees wanted to act on when they learnt Angels can be killed, so it's a pretty fitting juxtaposition.

@@pringletingle4192 Definitely seems like it, they already believe Alastor is "dead" and seems to be planning to create a power struggle over the other Overlords. Not to mention despite how much Velvette proclaimed she and the other Vee's were so eager to fight back against the Angels, but when we see them again the finale they're just watching the fight at the Hotel. Make's me think they were never serious about wanting to fight and talked hots***

Hes also been confirmed as the oldest of the overloards which in itself is impressive because it was stated in the pilot and later restated in the actual series that Alastor killed all of the old powerful overloads minus zestial

Zestial was right to be wary of velvet. Considering that when the angels finally came, the V’s we’re busy up in their tower watching has Charlie and the others actually fought. Which leaves me to believe that the V’s we’re intending to try and use that meeting to rile up the overlords into fighting, and then just sitting back and letting them die, then picking at the remains of what’s left. Makes sense when you consider their verse in the last song, that was their plan all along.

Honestly, it would go without saying that they’re more vultures than anything having to pick out what’s left from the fight itself or had the extermination happen as planned would’ve been picking at whoever’s left for more territory expansion

Zestial is (I think) the oldest power-holding overlord in Hazbin hotel, he’s such a good character, and I think Alastor even looks up to him :D

There's actually a quick scene in the Pilot of Hazbin Hotel when Charlie is singing Inside of Every Demon Is a Rainbow where we can actually see Zestial revealing his scary spider web cloak

As a storytelling device, bc it's still considered modern and understandable English but VERY OLD, this version of English is used for creatures and beings that are FAR older than King Jame's English. He could possibly be older... But I'm SO stoked to see if we get more information on him. Even if it's just a facade and he died yesterday I really want to know more.

Zestial gives me sweet old dog vibes. Like, he seems so polite fot being an old overlord, but you know he could POSSIBLY cause damage if he wanted to.

Im foaming at the mouth to know more about him. His green accent is sp different to the predominantly red Hell, and each Overlord seems to have a different colour primarily associated to them, but we see moments when Alastor uses that same green in his magic (chaining Husk and attackig Pentious specifically, and i believe his smile stitches). And what did he mean about the rumour of Alastor being found in HOLY ARMS?? Dying to know more about my Overlords! 🤩

He's my favorite character. To me, he seems like he would be the type of person who would be friends with everyone, and try to keep peace when his loved ones would be put in danger.

Fun fact: Zestial is one of the few man Alastor lowkey respects

Omg I so agree. He seems to be the only old overlord that Alastor didn't destroy, and Alastor seemed a bit alarmed to run into him. I think the way he's gotten close to Carmilla and got the tea out of her about the angel indicates that he's a man who survives and grows his power through information. He might have some damning info on Alastor or he might even work with Alastor's boss.

It makes sense, especially with his lyric talking about not acting based off of lack of intelligence on Respectless

He can make anything out of thin air like the tea he made in the meeting

The second Zestial showed up on screen my first thought was, "is he supposed to be Hazbin's Jack the Ripper?" The shadowy nature of his appearance, and how his coat revels color only when he allows it got my gears turning.

Finally someone has the same take. He doesn't give the vibe of someone who can win every fight. He has the bibe of someone who only gets in fights he knows in advance he can win.

I honestly wonder if Zestial was inspired by Varys. Varys constantly says he is trying to “protect the realm” and seems genuine, and that fits with Carmella’s dilemma of revealing that angels can be killed and that possibly starting a war. He seems to agree with her, and just as you said, saying “we cannot act without more intelligence”. There are many similarities between them.

Yes! He is the Gretchen of the group! He tells Alastor that there’s rumors that he’s been missing in « heavenly arms » (which I think is an illusion to Lilith) AND he notices Carmillas discomfort before the song with velvette. His hat is so tall because it’s full of secrets.

I think almost everyone agrees he's basically the information Overlord, information is power and I think that makes him one of the strongest around since he would know many secrets and thus be able to make more soul deals. Also the spider being related to a spy master is a pretty common trope.

Speaking of connections to movies, I think Alastor and Dr. Facilier (from Princess and the frog) knew each other because they were both around the 1920s. They both got voodoo and hoodoo and they both got friends on the other side.
