In this Drawing Tip of the Week Matt talks about utilizing "Targets" in your drawings. Targets are little marks that you draw to. They help you with quick measurements. The prevent the overuse of your eraser. You can also use one or two quick targets in a gesture drawing. I use targets for the bottom of the feet, then I draw my gesture line to that target.

honestly all u need is a 2b pencil and then maybe 4b and 6b for really dark tones, a good sharpener and any old rubber that doesnt leave smuggy marks all over the page :) good luck drawing xx

I tried that with my cousin as model and ended up using a combination of sketching out the general form and using the target technique to get the composition i want. Well, of course, maybe i just lack practice.

Check a craft store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby, they sell the same pencils and erasers you can find at Dick Blicks.
