Thank you😊 The outline is just a rough free hand drawing, only the eyes, nose and some dark portions basically. No grids just randomly blocking in the lights and darks.

I used Camel compressed charcoal and powdered the same to use with the help of a brush.

I have not tried ivory sheet till now. But yes some of my artist friends do use charcoal and ivory sheets.👍

I use papers starting from 140gsm to 200gsm. I prefer the quality of paper surface over gsm..it should be able to take in more layers without wear or tear. Always try out differnt tickness and smoothnes of paper to find out which one you like more to work with.

I can't the eyes even, or yo match the other side. I erase erase erase

This sketch did not have much outline except for the eye and nose....but will definitely share the the outline process too next time.
