OMG as a Hermit Glurb owner I'm constantly hearing "It'll take your skull eventually!" "You know it's gonna get you next right?" "Did you hear about that one lady that let her Hermit Glurb sleep in her bed with her and it *ate her* !?" Like give me a break! I know my Hermit Glurb better than anyone else and I know it won't ever eat *me.* I keep it in a safe, comfortable environment. It is always well fed and has a steady supply of *various* different skull sizes to choose from at any given moment. I DO NOT milk my Glurb for its chug jug juice, as this is unethical and can lead to the Hermit Glurb developing a sense of hostility for its owner. That's the big mistake I see a lot of Hermit Glurb owners making, really. If the Glurb feels that you're taking from it, of course it will see you as fair game to take from as well- and it'll want your skull. But if you assert your position as a *supplier* of skulls, food, and a cozy home, then your Hermit Glurb will respect you and have no need to take your skull! It's simple Glurbsbandry really, but I feel it's been forgotten with the modern trends of putting our pets on tiktok, and exploiting them for their unique features. My Hermit Glurb even sings slowed-reverb lullabies to me at night, because it knows I have a hard time sleeping when the world is too quiet. They can be really lovely pets, you just need to know how to care for them properly!

Frankly, that's one of the benefits of adopting a bigger Hermit Glurb. (I always thought it was spelled Hermit Glerb btw. Local differences I guess.) Once they outgrow human skulls, you're safe. But also, yes, agreed. They're not really good for "husbandry" as they resent anyone who repeatedly attempts to milk them. They're pets. You don't milk your pets.

@@M.Datura Interesting, here in the far North, we spell it Glurb! But I do believe they are the same species and it's just a regional spelling thing. I tend to keep smaller Glurbs, since I don't have the space to properly house those above the size of a sea lion (bit bigger than a human). Usually when they get that big, they move in with my sister, a few hours out, who has a proper farm and acres of forest property for them to thrive. I never even considered the angle of keeping significantly larger Hermit Glurbs being a safer option for those concerned, but that is deffinitely true!

There are some Hermit Glurbs who preffer fresh skulls, with meat and fur still attached; as it provides more warmth and padding for the Glurbs sensitive inner body. So I make sure these ones have fresh skulls to choose from when they reach their molting and re-shelling process. My good buddy is a butcher and taxidermist and he's been creating long-term use, insulated, fully re-furred Hermit Glurb skulls, *for years.* And he's not the only taxidermist to do this! There are plenty of insulated Glurb skull craftsman across the globe, working with many different materials! No Hermit Glurb would choose the poorly insulated skull of a human over a fully insulated, organically taxidermied animal skull. PLUS, despite layman beliefs, Glurbs do have a sense of death. They know that if I died, there would be no-one to supply them with the same comfortable, luxury lifestyle I give them. Chances are they'd have to live in the wild, constantly re-sourcing skulls that will go cold and rot away completely within mere weeks, leaving them exposed to the harsh winters and rainy season weather. It would be foolish and cruel to take my skull, and my Glurbs know this! They are far more intelligent creatures than you layfolk give them credit for!

I like to imagine they always wait till someone is really distracted with a conversation and instinctual stay just in one's periphery, relying on people barely looking over and absent mindedly giving the go ahead to get the pancakes. Of course that wouldn't explain how so many get so far into the application process and interview before being discovered. I guess they've evolved to the point where they can write competent resumes. Each generation learning what random squiggles on the paper gets their foot in the door. Eventually they evolve to mimic functioning members of society, with friends and family but in all actuality they still don't understand what they're doing and saying but they know it's the way to get the most pancakes.

i love how drawfee always tells you what the video is in the title, but then they spend some number of minutes in the beginning doing dramatic foreshadowing before "revealing" the premise of the video. it makes me feel like we are all in on a little secret
