Why are you guys using a dead language to name everything? It's not like Latin is a required course at Hogwarts or wherever you're getting your PhD's these days. Why not use Esperanto, or Lojban, or even Elvish? Those languages are kind of designed for naming random stuff, right? And that way you wouldn't be showing obvious favouritism for southern Europe and their colonies, and you might also stop sounding like you're trying to summon Cthulhu which could really improve your public image.

@@daniel4647 I guess it's just tradition. Because they started naming everything in Latin or Greek 250 years ago means we have to do so as well. It's actually not that hard once you've learned a few key words. For example sativa/vulgaris means common, ptera means wing, pod/poda means foot/feet, dactyl means finger and so on. (Oh and if it has the prefix Eu-, that means it's the "true" or "real" kind of it's genus/family/order) I guess it would be just weird if it suddenly switches to elvish although there is no rule against it and many modern examples of scientists naming something it's just some random words translated to latin (or at least Latin sounding) and thrown together to make two "scientific sounding" Words (the first name is the genus and the second the species, by the way)

That last one reminds me of how sloths have their own ecosystem on their fur because they are so slow in my head those are swamp flowers who have a very specific growing requirements that the animal provides its my favorite one amongst the drawings

Bit late to the party but just saw this and it instantly caught my attention, I love your videos and I am a huge art enthusiast, but the career path im trying to navigate down is research in invertebrates, bugs and critters in general are something that makes me genuinely so happy, and so I used to research a lot of invertebrates in my own time, I also love any animal and love working with them. Here are a few of my favourite (the first 5 are species that I've owned myself); 1) Achrioptera manga 2) Peruphasma schultei 3) Medauroidea extradentata 4) Testudo hermani hermani 5) Narceus americanus 6) Dynates hercules 7) Gromphadorhina portentosa 8) Nephila pilipes

This format is just so much fun! I definitely want to see some more! Here are some suggestions. I would love to see some ancient hominids on the list (yes, I’m an anthropologist), just to see what Jazza would come up with. Some favorites that aren’t as well known as, say, Homo erectus or Australopithecus afarensis: Paranthropus boisei Sahalanthropus tchadensis Ardipithecus ramidus Orrorin tugenensis
