    that was a sweet story about the trans character your niece made, my little sister frequently makes lbgt ocs just because she hears me and my sibling be open and talk about who we in our room that we share and its just nice how accepting she is of it especially since we have homophobic parents and it took us older kids a long time to even realize we were queer because we were so scared of being "wrong" or disappointing our parents. it gives me hope for the younger generation

    I love the video! Also love that you try to acknowledge certain thigs and take a moment to think deeper about stuff. Many people want to be ignorant and never try to understand how designs can send a message. The designs are nice and I like slow and steady sometimes.

    The questions your classmate asked were valid to consider for sure, but at the end of the day, humans come in any combination of characteristics. A fat POC existing isn't inherently wrong/stereotypical, nor is a skinny white person. Basically I don't think "mashing all diversity into one character" is a thing. That's just a person and people like that exist in real life too.

  • @artareon

    @artareon

    That's true but it's important to consider as one may start to only portray certain features for a race. Like only ever making a plus size poc

  • @gianninamoreau2920

    A fat POC does exist but not every POC is fat so it shouldn’t be the default body you draw for any POC. There are many red heads with freckles but not every single red head you draw needs to have freckles. Yeah it isn’t necessarily wrong but there are so many other features to a person you can represent in your drawing.

  • @mangosday

    @@gianninamoreau2920 No one ever said there's a "default body" for anyone though? Ayeoops has drawn many skinny poc before but no one ever got upset about it. So why is this body type an issue? "there are so many other features to a person you can represent in your drawing." This is one drawing. That can happen in future drawings.

    you raise a fair point and bring up the other side of the conversation that i hadn't thought of before. with mashing diversity into one character, i think it's mostly in the context of viewing characters as a group. like say for a show/game/collection of characters, the designers might make 9 characs who are all the same blueprint of a white character, and then have one poc who also has every other trait of marginalized groups jammed into them so that they can say "we're inclusive because we have this character" but i do agree that there isn't anything inherently wrong about a fat POC, and i realize that what i said in the vid can sound like i'm saying being fat is wrong

Sorry if this is in any way offensive or anything I’m bad with wording 😭also now that I think of it, all characters are lgbtq+ as well, except for two villains and a side character. I feel as though I accidentally made it seem forced but I also know that lgbtq+ people along with POC tend to make characters based off stuff about themselves, and tend to have more representation in a way then some cishet white people(not all ofc!! Just some) Also, my characters are all of several body types, mostly semi muscular because in my story it’s a bit required for their roles lol. Some are also plus sized. I hope I didn’t accidentally feed into any stereotypes without realizing it with any of them.

    Chiming in with ayroops's topic on not really thinking about a decision you make when working on an artwork, I agree. Yesterday, I was working on a piece for a project called ego art week, and realized after placing the base colors, I made the character's eyes a nice shade of pink to compliment his green hair. It's not normally how people draw the character in fanarts, but I think it's really nice. :3 I also found out I like to put hearts instead of the normal dots for eye highlights. Artist development, lol. :D And I like tarot cards, sometimes catching myself writing stories inspired by the cards instead of drawing. So I understand that aspect of liking something so much, you don't draw, lol.

    I love dnd and cant wait for baldurs gate! I used to play/dm a lot, I'm so happy to see people getting into it! hmm I should share a story so, a quick one! My party was on a voyage across the sea and we got ambushed by the flying beasts named "cliff racers". They started swarming us and once we managed to fight through a few waves, the big boss appeared, a wyvern. We had no resources left, but we did have a sorcerer and bag of holding. We instantly knew what to do, we lured the wyvern down and got our sorcerer close enough to cast polymorph. The wyvern fails and we turn it into a turtle, success. We rush with the bag of holding, shove the turtle into the bag and rip it, sending it to another plane. I got knocked out from the blast, so did our sorcerer. Once everyone was up we drank the night away! It was very fun and our dm was so mad lol

I made a bard halfling called Giggles The Third and I totally understand how you could get sucked into it. I love the game and the group I'm playing with so much. You should try and find some local groups or expanding it later the fact that you are having so much fun and exploring it now will make you an even better DM if that is what you choose to do and also being a player is just as fun, this was a really nice video to sit and listen to, I enjoyed the longer form content and the art you made is beautiful aswell 😅

    you definitely were not stereotyping the black girls just for making them bigger, coming from a black person. theres plenty of black people who are bigger just how theres plenty of white people who are bigger. if you made the white girl bigger and the black girls skinny, would anyone would have said anything? no. why? because it doesnt matter..people DO look like that and just because you just drew them bigger unintentionally doesnt mean ANYTHING at all! art is art and how you wanna interpret your characters is up to you, as long as its not offensive. and theres nothing offensive with a certain body type on a certain race

    The way I see it, it’s fine to have bigger black girls and skinny white girls, but something I noticed is that it can be interpreted as stuffing all your diversity into some characters, and then having your other characters being skinny, white, etc. for the sake of just having some diverse characters. Not sure that was what Lauren meant by that, but it is certainly interesting to think about :0

    There is something about the way you narrate and speak with your tones that is just very adoring to hear! You actually inspired me to start a project , and I would love for you to check it out once it's done! You fill out a thingy online with multiple choice options for who you want to be as a character, what you want the world around you to look like, and your stats! I take all your new info, and write a 500 word start to a story, a story with dice rolls and interactions. That is free, for anyone to fill out, try and check out, and then if they really like the first 500 words, they can pay for more and continue their story! Does this sound like a fun idea? I hope you are having an amazing week, and im happy to comment here, as I've been a bit nervous to write you because I didn't know if complimenting your voice would be stupid or not 😂 Honestly out of all this, I love the most on the right side, the two rough sketches of the two poses next to the colors and brushes, i dont know why I enjoy them so much, I love creating little not exact detail things and then putting really nice colors in them, i enjoy high detail things too but just making really simple things cute and finished, underestimated little pieces that in their own way and style can do so much. 😅😅

Nothing really ruined any diversity, perhaps that person was just picking at your choice of design.. Which is kinda weird tbh. I Hope they weren't actually offended since its just a character you made with no ill intent. I Don't mean to come off as rude, I just find it weird they asked such questions; a good response could be " It's Just a Design choice " or something similar. I Love your artwork; and style! The character is adorable just the way you made it, but its YOUR art and YOU don't have to really explain most bits of it.
