IMO Draven is one of the best examples of a character’s kit and play style reflecting their personality. The axe catching thing makes it abundantly clear where Draven will go making Draven’s team (mainly his support) have to accommodate him and the enemy able to take advantage of his predictability. It perfectly mirrors how his ego makes him do stupid things and how his allies have to bail him out and bend to his ego.

Viego *probably* doesn't know anything about Noxus beyond the front they present. He is an outside invader here, so the only information he has on who is the best candidate for ruination is... reputation. If Viego burned down a whole noxian village and demanded to know who Noxus' greatest champion was, the people might actually say Draven not because he is, but because he's the most famous. It'd be like aliens invading, knocking over a trailer park and being told that Dwayne Johnson is earth's greatest warrior.

In his teeny tiny defence, Draven IS a good fighter. But he is just a normal dude, fighting normal dudes in his little arena. Virtually any champion with actual powers or even real training with their weapons in stronger than him, but he IS the best of the throwaway goons of runeterra.

Draven canonically fought minotaurs until he got bored, calling him a goon is a underestimation.

Draven's game play is very draven, where the difference between a bad draven player, decent draven player, and good draven player is actual skill issue. Which sounds like something draven would say.

One thing that I thought would get mentioned is that Draven is consistently rated as one of, if not the WEAKEST Champion in League by Lore. And the reason for this is because: he is a normal human, not some more powerful race on Runeterra; he has not known to have any magic or "powers" (even Seraphine has empath powers); and lastly, his weapon of choice-the spinning axes-are not good weapons. They are clunky, inefficient, and awkward to use. He'd be better off using just about anything else. And here's the thing: Draven is fully aware of this. He knows the spinning axes are bad. But the CROWD loves them. THAT'S why he uses them. Pleasing the crowd and getting those cheers are so much more important to him that he's willing to fight at a disadvantage in the Reckoning Arena.

FYI Nicky Briar is pronounced like Eye. Br-Eye-ar. It's a type of prickly or thorny shrub. Looking forward to that next week, it'll probably be my first look at the champion.

To answer the question as to why Viego took Draven into the fold, it was stated that it was because of his anxiety correlating to his shows in the Arena. This was supposedly hinted at during the Awaken cinematic when he looks all broody until Riven shows up. TLDR He thought his shows weren't good enough and the mist took hold of that anxiety to change him, so it was less a choice and more "Mist found a foothold in his weakness", which leads me to ask Wtf happened to Darius for the mist to take hold of him in the cinematic i wish i were making this shit up

If Arcane season 3 does end up going to different regions, and that region is Noxus. I could see them including Draven and I could see him getting a lot more depth, while keeping him as super egotistical and glory-seeking. Oh, and I really love his easter egg cameos in the Glory in Navori cards in LoR.

(otherwise Draven would problably be sporting a beard and we'd have grapejuice Vlad). Arcane is pretty mature compared to a lot of the lore, so I think they'll be fine with that aspect of Draven.

Maybe we are just used to what he looks like? I mean of all Noxians, Draven might actually the dullest looking one. At least Swayne and Darius carry strong reds or blacks, but Draven looks very gray-ish.

Immediately after this video, I find myself back to Falconshield's This Is War to hear the Draven verse.

ADC feels like a *really* strange fit for a personality like Draven in the current state of the game, and there's a reason for that that I think is pretty interesting. In modern day league you'd expect someone who wants to be the center of attention and soak up all the glory for winning the game to be a Jungler, or a mid-lane assassin... hell, I'd argue that top or support would be a better fit for Draven's personality than ADC, he'd certainly have more playmaking potential, which is what hype characters want... but back when Draven entered the league it was a very different landscape: The reason it's called AD Carry is because you were literally expected to carry your team through teamfights, being the primary source of sustained DPS that won your team the game, and that role fits draven perfectly. The game quite literally changed out from under Draven's feet, and while he can still absolutely carry games the ADC just isn't the center of attention that it used to be, everyone else just comes online earlier and by the time your ADC has a lot of items the game might just be over.

@@somo4227 I admit I haven't got much exposure to him outside of the surface level, but he never struck me as cowardly or afraid to get hit. He's just a guy with a big mouth and a glass jaw. That being said, yeah I 100% see where you're coming from.

Draven mid isn't that much of secret technology but he's strong early game and oppressive playstyle makes him hard for most Mages to handle - he kills so fast and they seldom have much armour - if you wanna terrify some Asol or Veigar yeah go for it.

you know a champion is something special when the only thing that makes hin strong (gameplaywise) is his ego.

Draven is the Heel we love to see win, but also love to see lose. He's so dam charismatic and entertaining you just can't help but love him. I just wish we got another champion with a wrestler personality from Noxus. Someone to be the Andre the Giant to Draven's Hulk Hogan, or the Stone Cold Steve Austin to Draven's The Rock.

I think they should give Draven more exaggerated colors like a bright fiery reds whether it be his tunic or animal skins mixed in with Dark Steel armor.

I think the lore reason any of the characters got ruined was because they had *something* to drive them or something they were afraid of. Shyv's was not being accepted and MF's was her hate of Gangplank iirc. So the mist corrupted Draven b/c something like a desire for more fame would work. Idk I just think Swain or Vlad would be a harder pick than *that guy over there*

I think Briar’s CCR should be saved for the end. First impressions tend to be different than final opinions, and so far CCR has been free of that. It would be unfair to briar to be reviewed on your first attempt at playing them. At the very least give her 3 months or so after release for the recency bias to subside a bit
