Drake had all the potential to be in my top 3 funniest people alive together with Norm MacDonald and Dave Foley, who once joined forces in my no1 sitcom NewsRadio. One of those few guys I never knew but miss dearly regardlessly. Rest in peace, Drake, maybe you found solace and are fooling around with Phil Hartman.

@@TR-yi8up Hartman's death ruined that show for years for me, I couldn't handle choking up over great comedy performances all that well. Learning about Drake's death while still being numb from Phil's, it didn't leave an appropriate impact on me, maybe also because Phil was more visible being an actor (and of coarse the violence involved and leaving the kids orphaned). It's no contest of coarse, but in a way I think Drake's was more dramatic: as I understand it, being seperated from his offspring and maybe not being able to connect with a partner might have been the reasons for him to do what he did. Hartman's death was more about the pain those who knew him felt. Drake's was more about the pain Drake felt. On a lighter note: how great is a sitcom when the commentary tracks are of the quality of NewsRadio's. To me, the people who worked on that show were meant to find eachother.

Also I was reading that Drake shot himself at the age of 44 in 2004, and nobody even thought he was depressed. Apparently he never told anyone ever that there was a problem? That sounds like bullshit to me. So let me get this straight, he's rich and successful, has a Beautiful wife and kids. And he just wrote one of the funniest movies ever made, and he's about to make millions of dollars. But right before they have to pay him for writing Zoolander, he thinks, "Hey, I have a great idea, instead of making millions of dollars, wouldn't it be cool if I ended my own life, so that they can keep my money? ...Yeah, let's do that instead. BOOM!" What a load of crap.

VincentValdez1985 it is true. He was about to get divorced and was very sad and upset about it. Comedians are funny but a lot of times they are hurting inside. He is my cousin and I just realized that depression hit me this year and I didn’t even realize the slow progression. I’m 44. I just made the correlation now reading your comment and realizing I’m now 44... he felt bad because he didn’t wanna be without his kids yet he left his loved ones behind . It makes no sense to anyone not dealing with depression but he obviously was hurting pretty bad. Making others laugh when you just wanna die inside. He commit suicide with his wife on the phone and she said it’s cause she thinks he didn’t wanna do it alone. 😪😭 now that’s sad.
