Drake's Graceful Exit

Ойын-сауық

Drake’s been in the game far too long.
"I feel like I'm kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit"
The 2023 Drake and Lil Yachty interview was a testament to Drakes wish to leave a good impact on the rap scene and not become stuck in the industry as he claims many others have. Fast forward to 2024, with the unravelling of the Drake and Kendrick beef, the legacy that Drake wanted to leave behind has in many ways been tarnished, as old controversy has been brought into light.
He is still looking for his graceful exit.
Note that this video is not trying to defend Drake in any way. It is simply an expression of his state of mind, coupled in with some ps1 inspired graphics/aesthetic and core core elements

I would love to play a classic p2 like game. You play as Kendrick, and your main goal is to kick Drake's ass, but there are side quests. Those being disstracks (create [insert number] disstracks to enter Drakes mansion) then you beat him up street fighter style.

ngl. hearing him somewhat imply that this "real life" he lives has been manufactured by others for him and his family sake is kinda sad. Child actors never seem to get to live real lives until they get to exit the space. Yachty shouldve made him watch that video back before jumping in the ring with Kendrick. Great video. really makes you think. Hadnt listened to drake since hotline bling and only heard the buried alive interlude before this beef. but DAMN. rip Drake. the death of that persona for the revival of HipHop seems like a worthy trade off to me.

Thank you for this comment. I really agree with you that the more deep thinking Drake seen in the interview is very different to the Drake that the world sees nowadays. Rip.

@@Fladdman. From an outside perspective, He just seemed to be too omnipresent in the space and online and lost the charm and authenticity that made Drake fun and interesting. Its just kinda tired now. But he put me back on to Kendrick Lamar and the art of music as a whole in a roundabout way, and that's pretty cool. His efforts have been cemented regardless of where things go for him. Most of his discography really brings back memories of better times. So I'm def not sweating this outcome lol. Again, Very creative, introspective, and interesting video you've put together. great stuff

As seen in the interview, it was Drake’s intention to make a “graceful exit” from the scene, given that he has achieved everything he wanted to achieve. Now I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the phrase “reputation takes years to build, while it takes minutes to ruin it”, but it kinda rings a bell given current events. Before the beef, Drake was planning to take a significant break from music - you could even argue that he was planning for that to be his “graceful exit”. The thing is, no matter what he does at this point, there would be nothing graceful about it. This has evolved from a mere rap beef to full blown character assassination. Call me exaggerated if you want, but the results of this beef have spread around the world, and Drake’s reputation isn’t exactly in good standing. The only people who don’t know or don’t care are brainless pop consumers. They will listen to anything as long as it’s catchy - I’m intentionally excluding that target demographic when I say that Drake’s L on this beef isn’t exactly small.

@@YaroLord Thank you for this detailed comment! This is the kind of duality that I wanted to showcase in the video; being that Drake went from a position of retirement, or the so called "graceful exit", to now having all of that thrown out as the Kendrick beef has stirred up old controversies and accusations. I think you are very correct in that this beef has deeply changed Drakes legacy and ruined his reputation. The quote that you used is very much true!
