If you end up watching this video post release of the Bestiary, they did indeed add basilisks to the game… so I was prophetic!

I love freeleague. Haven't tried this one yet but the solo mode looks a great way to learn the system so you can be confident when running it for your friends. Looks as though it might be better for occasional game sessions rather than a prolonged campaign. Especially useful if you have players that are unreliable.

Very good insight. It is absolutely spot on. If you want to get REALLY in depth, this is likely not the one for you. But if you want a quick “Diablo” type tabletop solo experience? Well this might be THE perfect solution. I have played a couple solo sessions and it is very unpredictable in its assignment of challenges, and potentially deadly in its application of threats. It makes for a quick, exciting way to dungeon crawl. I really enjoy it. Thanks for watching!

My only complaint about the Dragonbane box set is that it feels like a starter set. BUT the game it’s based off of also had a “basic” and “advanced” version. Here’s hoping that with such a successful crowdfunding, they’ll eventually offer an advanced rules set.

Without any experience in the original system myself, I can see where the game does feel a little “basic” in some of its choices. That said, I don’t find it to be a lack of opportunity, just perhaps a lack of variety. What I mean, the core box, you can (and I will) play a full campaign out of, zero to hero. In what I would deem a “starter set”, that level for advancement is just not possible. Where some folks will feel the “basic” set is that there are basically a handful of skills that are mechanically the same, a limited number of heroic abilities, and really not a lot of mechanical choices to be made after spending a lot of time with the system. This to me feels like the effect of making the choice to have a simpler system, but it still feels complete to me. I am intrigued to see what could go into an “advanced” game. More heroic abilities, spells, combat maneuvers and monsters would be great, but any of those could also just be spread through world supplements. It’s an interesting thought experiment though! You make death saves by rolling against your CON attribute, not the base chance. (Dragonbane Rules p.50) So your character would need to roll a 17 or less to pass their death save, not a 7. Dragonbane is deadly, but not quite that deadly!
