@@gurvmlk I disagree. With the other animes sure they can do several fake outs but at least when it's all said and done when a character is killed there is no coming back. Their is still that weight behind deaths. With dbz now that one thing that gives everything some weight is now stripped. I think the only true time it was implemented amazingly was the frieza arc since there were no dragon balls and no one else left to save them after they died. Otherwise though characters in other shows die once and are never seen again their memories lving on. Dragon ball characters have prolly died at least twice

The funny thing about Krillin coming back is that he's been screaming the whole time in Heaven.

Yeah, it's still a pretty horrible thing to experience, just like any traumatic event ofc it has a consequence. Super even kind of goes into that a little with Krillin having some pretty real PSTD from being murdered.

@@xelestial_sky I really like Super’s PTSD idea as a arc for the character. And some study lines frame the state (feeling) of resourcelessness or hopelessness as a big factor into trama. So knowing that death has no consequences, would in fact reduce the chances of this PTSDs episodes because one would know that event (even though painful) is not a big deal. Which would be true only about dying per say, not dealing with the feeling of incompetence or being a burden for others. Just my two, completely unsolicited and crazy, cents on the topic.

Yamcha had the most genuine reaction because he knows Goku since he was little and despite them being rivals at first they became really good friends.

The one thing that bums me out with this series being canceled is that I never saw Dende reacting to Videl. Edit: 2 years later and this is the most liked comment I have ever made!! Over 5k thanks a bunch! Edit 2: Thank you Little Green!!

Difference between seasons 2 and 3: literally years spent doing nothing but training together and getting the chance to actually develop that bond. As for season 1, he was a toddler who had never seen a fight before the debacle with Uncle Raditz. No chance for him to get jaded with abandonment issues like he was over the course of season 2.

You have forgotten an important detail about the dragonballs then... They can only bring you back to life once! The way they got around it here, is that the Namekian dragonballs had never resurrected them, so they could be brought back a second time.

Yep...sort of like the whole "Force Ghost" thing in Star Wars. Even though that is only for Jedi/Force characters....it is still one of those things that kind of kills the narrative in some ways. Any time a storyline actually shows characters living/existing after death and being "fine" in a sense, and/or being able to return from the dead....the entire thing starts to feel a little empty. For me....messing around with how life/death works, and messing around with time travel always makes me click out of a story and really start to care a lot less. DBZ does both, and Star Wars in a sense has kind of done both(the time stuff was in one of the animated series)

It's September 21, 2023 and that last "god 'darn' it Nappa" made it sound like Vegeta regretted his actions with Nappa. I love these version of Nappa and Vegeta.

I have to vote Tien as my favorite for this episode. Him being the voice of reason and bluntly pointing out inconsistencies was hilarious.

Felicia Taylor ehhh, it’s definitely not as golden. l’ve thought about this one for a long time. I just think the cell cast of characters and events aren’t as strong a comedic dynamic as the ones here in the first two series. Nappa Ginyu Frieza Still good stuff.

He's got a saucy cynicism that edges out Freeza's just a bit for me; his humor is darkly sassy and on this side of sexual that I click with, and his bluntness and wit are fun. He's rigid but not unfair (to a degree), and he pulls off arrogance rather well. Freeza, Nappa and Ginyu are all great in their own ways, but Cell just does it for me (though I would have loved to see more from them, especially Nappa). Sorry for the long comment; I got caught up. It's great that you find enjoyment in the series. :)

I remember when this first came out and the ship scene with the muffin made me lose it. I couldn't stop laughing. That was the best unforeseen joke of all time.

So I just noticed how many different frames were used for that last scene, cause Gohan hair kept going form long bowl to ponytail, and bulmas kept going from jumpsuit to blue top with white ensemble. Its just neat to notice that if you actually pay close attention you'll notice these and it'll catch you off guard while you're laughing at the jokes

Tien, Chaotzu, and Yamcha should've been covered under "bring back everyone Frieza's men killed"... but as we see in the "I killed your dad" flashbacks, Nappa worked for Vegeta _long before_ (and therefore under a separate agreement from) Vegeta working for Frieza. He wasn't a Frieza employee, he was a third-party contractor.

@@ZLunas I think that restriction only applies to wishes to bring back multiple people. Since in Resurrection F, Frieza was brought back over a decade after he'd been killed. Or maybe that's just because of Dende upgrading Shenron's powers. Which technically means that a wish to bring back any specific Saiyan should be possible, but nobody who's still alive ever cared to do that. (It'd take two wishes anyway, since otherwise they'd be revived in space and then suffocate.)
