My interpretation of this song has always been that if Danny had led with "Hey, I'm Danny, I'm a musician" instead of lying about being a dragon slayer, he would totally have gotten laid along with the other guys.

Um but Danny actually did slay a dragon It happened during the search for the sacred chalice of Ragaloch they just didn't have the footage and this is the footage after it was found You can tell because he didn't have the crazy awesomeness of the chalice and that's why the girl picked everyone else instead of him

I love how magical the new version of this track sounds for general listening, but the comedic value of the original will stay with me forever!

This animator does not get enough props, there's so much detail and it looks incredible, well done!

dont know how to describe it but i love the excitement in Dan's voice when he's saying "You'll be my DRAGON slayer wife". The enthuses and layering of the character's voice is great

I absolutely LOVE the visual style of the animation, and clearly Dalton Brown is massively talented. Huge props for the hard work and effort, it looks incredible. And the new Level Up sound is very cool, really lets you hear how NSP has changed over the years. BUT. The minimalist comedy style of the original is just too tough to beat. It was like the whole thing was just a massive exaggeration of Danny Sexbang's imagination, like we were hearing the version that he hears in his head when actually everyone at the party just stares awkwardly. I'm sure there's probably some kind of fancy term for it. Lo-fi comedic juxtaposition? idk lol

The stock images and gifs in the original absolutely added to the charm, and really fit with Danny's "total confidence and extreme incompetence" character. That being said, I love how much NSP has evolved over the years, and they certainly sound better than ever; it just doesn't quite fit the silliness the first few albums were going for.

The melodic phrasing and chord changes (especially towards end of the chorus) are just pure exceptional songwriting. Out of this world talent on show.

I have to love how you can see she’s genuinely enjoying the song and actually considering picking Danny before deciding otherwise. And how eager and excited Danny is to shoot his shot. It’s adorable!

Sorry..but Arin as a homeless man in a dragon suit and Barry in his majestic Barrycorn onesey doing the dragon dance together in REAL LIFE will always be the level up version in my eyes. Still a cool cover!

Yeah. Some of these are clear improvements but there are some with distinct passages that are just so iconic and amazing sounding. Some parts in 6969 level up come to mind. Just beats that didn't hut as hard or had enough behind them.

I can't believe I'm just discovering this version now. This has always been my favorite NSP song but I thought the mix from the original didn't do it much justice. The Level Up version is definitely the mix I've wanted for years! Such a kickass hook and the backup vocals aren't too overpowering.

I was literally telling my fiancé just the other day that thing song slaps and I’d love to hear it redone. Danny’s vocal style has changed so much since Attitude City (or NSP songs as a whole, rather) and it shows. :)

i enjoy both. the goofy low budget live action vids are great but you are limited in what you can do. in animation its nearly limitless and you can craft something so eye pleasing it will look amazing for years to come. i would say the best song danny has covered is starlight patrol. because seriously that animation gives me nostalgia even during my first viewing... thats something that is insanely hard to do. and the team did that for a whole music video. it is a masterpiece that i think rivals even the most well invested tv shows ever produced. like if i had to choose between starlight patrol and adventure time... starlight patrol just looks way better. and adventure time had hundreds of thousands of dollars behind its every episode... and then there is the live action vids like 6969 which have fun moments but it just doesnt hit nearly as good as starlight patrol did for me

Oh my God this animation is BEAUTIFUL!!! I loved this entire album, and glad these updated tracks are getting more music videos as well, even if they take longer to make its worth the wait, all the references and nostalgia was great.

".... and the dragon....." has me dying every time. Love the song, and the animation is top notch stuff!

Oh man. I saw this pop up and threw it on while I was cooking for some background audio. But the amazing animation kept me so distracted I had to pause it until I finished with the food, and then start it over from the beginning on my big TV. Absolutely outstanding. This has always been one of my favorite NSP songs, and this animation more than did it justice. This may even beat out the original music video for me; but I think I’ll have to re-watch it another dozen or more times to be sure…

Great remake! While I prefer Arin's part more in the original, this new take definitely sounds new and modern overall! Both versions are great~

I love that arran was the dragon. I always thought NSP+TWRP would make for a great animated series about time travelling ninjas who got their power from future cyborg heroes and went back in time to meet Egoraptor who was just a caveman dressed up as a dinosaur. This confirms my headcannon. Netflix should get on this!

I love the Level Up stuff. But the original first two albums will always have a special place in my heart for the minimalistic greatness! I like the old style of the videos and songs even more to this day (because that's when I started listening). So hey, if you read this, and this gets a load of likes, maybe consider doing just one song in the style of the first two albums, including video, please?! A single or on album, it would mean the world to us!

It's called over-production, and it unfortunately happens to most things or people when they get big. Like AVGN videos in the early days vs now. South Park's another great example - they started off simplistic, but then went up their own butt with their animation. FYI: I like all the folks I just referenced, in fact I'm a big fan of all of them. But it doesn't change the fact that more money = bloated productions. Kinda like how Microsoft Word is the most complicated program on the planet but no one asked or wanted it to be.

Damn this is such a fantastic rehash of the already-godlike original. I love being an NSP fan, you can tell ahead of time that every new song or video will be a winner.

An absolutely amazing animation. There were so many things I loved about it. It pairs so well with the song. My favourite part though would have to be Danny's smile at 1:01. It's adorable

I've seen the original 100s of times and listened thousands throughout the years, but the animation I love it. I can not believe I am just now seeing this but I just love it so cute.

When the original upload came out for this, I remember I was doing a sales training for some new staff, and I slipped in the line "I road up to the mountaintop that was 90 million feet in the air, and I fought through an army of karate bears"

The original was the first NSP song I ever listened too and this is a fantastic revamp! Love the song and animation!

One of my favorite NSP songs and also...getting up there as just one of my favorite songs period. I also finally noticed the "Attitude City Bus Routes" in the background of the scene where Dan convinces Arin to wear the costume.

I will always love the self-referential joke at the end of having the Manticore show up and steal the girl, even though he was, in fact, not even in this song.

As an expert on Dragon Slaying, I must say, I'm glad that I chose this song as my theme song so many years ago. This is getting played at my wedding. Rock on Danny boy, rock on.

This was so cute and had such a warm friendly vibe. A departure from the original but a fun variant to experience. Absolutely in love with the animation! So fluid and expressive :D

Started watching these recently and I've gotta say, the songs are stupendous but noticing all the tiny details in your animation just makes me appreciate it that much more, like at 2:17 how the Pegasus is wearing sunglasses before they fly off. Or at 2:54 when you can see the mountain in the background where the dragon was supposedly fought. Keep up the awesome work, and rock on!
