the one thing i loved about this film is not the east vs. west or differing elements in fighting style. that is obvious in itself. the one thing that stood out the most in this film is when man is faced with desperation and extreme situations, we are all the same in the end. you can see that clearly during the fights.

I remember watching this movie for the first time. When I saw the fight scenes of Tiberius, and even Lucius in a lesser proportion I was like this =O, these are just the best sword fight scenes I have ever watched in all the movies and shows I have seen over time. This is so perfectly executed, with lethal rapidity it's just insane how it renders on screen.

@@picvajzpikcers The degree of skill of a stuntman or fight choreographer is not measured by how good they can make themselves look, but by how good they can make their opponents look. It's only because he's fighting Jackie Chan that he looks competent.

gotta hand it to whoever choreographed this. even the spins look fast and deadly. and they do use mostly accurate moves.

The most underrated fight scene.

That long hair and beard makes him look like a King

Lucius tied with Hou-An, and he was tired, starving and thirsty from the forced pace meant to outrun the forces of the emperor that were chasing him.. I think fully rested and fed Lucius vs Tiberius would've been a much cooler duel, and also a more meaningful one, since as Tiberius said, this was a Roman matter..

Honestly this movie looks like a historically inaccurate joke but at the same time, u have to admire the practicality of this film, little to no CGI at all as far as i can see, the choreography dedication from the actors especially from cussack and brody fighting against jackie chan, thats that makes this a badass movie, hardwork at its best but it sucked it flew under the radar

It's rare to see Hollywood stars like Cussack and Brody to star along with Jackie Chan. Especially it's a Hong Kong film where filming and directing is so different to what they are used. Especially how they had to endure the location they shot, how heavy the armor were, enduring the harsh weather, finding alot of extras, and long hours of filming. That couldn't been easy for the Hollywood Stars. Even though it wasn't the best film I still give Chan, Cussack, and Brody credit for their dedication on the film. If I was Jackie or the other two stars, I just be grateful to have an opportunity to work with them.

Well 2 hands handling a sword is better for defence due to the fact that 1 hand is more susceptible to being bypassed. 1 hand means more agility and is mainly for offence and quick attacks. 2 hands means more defence and power stiles

Adrien brody doing the bad guy very good, he look so menace, and he look like Achiles in this movie.

This isn't a set of full plate armor. This is a cuirass with pauldrons and a set of arm guards. Arms are largely unrestricted. The skirt isn't even fully armored. It's pretty light stuff.

Why Adrian Brody reminds me of a young Lord Gwyn?

Jackie was already too tired but you can see that Tiberius didn't took advantage of that, he gave him a fair fight cuz he had multiple chances to shred jackie with his sword but he didn't, he even made a same move that he did to cut yin po's hand and he could've easily done it if he went for his hand instead if his sword

Jackie lost because he there is no thing to use for him.

Huo An doesn't do badly considering the spear he took to his gut just before the breakout.

@@Neo587 actually they would definitely have fallen to them if they fought like this. The romans were so effective because of their formations in battle. Tortoise formation and whatnot. Fighting like this in a 1v1 across the battlefield just makes them equal to every other historical army that fought with no formation and trained for personal skill.

Without seeing the next clip i already know that HuoAn will win. Its JackieChan and therefore he will obviously win like in many other movies. His enemy proofs himself to be way stronger and than hes being honorable, gives him several chances after he clearly lost and in the end Jackie kills his enemy...

Jackie didn't meant to kill him.. If you watched in the end the fatal slash to the neck was an accident.. If you watched this scene Tiberius slashed off a portion of the blunt armshield.. making the end sharp.

Tiberius was screwed anyway. even if he had killed huo an, he was bloodthirsty and he had no honor, mercy and no code. he was not respected by his own soldiers. his own downfall is inevitable. Lucius had a code and was honorable. he had his men's respect.
